Hi I’ve learnt that some people believe that anti depressants may be more effective for pmdd when taken for the last two weeks of the cycle only. Has anyone tried this? I can’t help thinking I will be feeling withdrawal symptoms for the other two weeks but apparently it’s more effective than taking everyday. Anyone heard or experienced anything with this?? Thanks in advance XX

Since I’m at work I’ll use what Mayo has to say. Full month or partial month. I do believe it’s a lower dose than for someone like me who has clinical depression due to head traumas. That way you’d feel no withdrawal.

Of course talk with your doctor about your body.

I’m going to bring this up with my daughter.

I hope you get some relief. I know it’s really hard on you.

Thank you so much for responding.does your daughter suffer with this? I'm sorry to hear about your head injury and it causing your depression I hope you are ok. Be kind to yourself. I'm nervous to try this. I'm already on 50 sertraline which is a small dose but God to I get the swing when I change doses. I want to come off it really but I'm terrified of making a prat of myself at work like I do so often due to this. But at the end of the day life goes on and unfortunately we can't pause it while we taper off our antidepressants. Thank you again. I take it you are on a large dose? How do you find it? Lots of questions and I really don't care if you are too busy to answer I'm just so pleased you responded. Take care xx

You’re fine. My daughter has PMDD and PCOS as so often go hand in hand. I talked to her this morning. She’s going to bring it up with her doctor. I’ll let you know. She’s fine with me sharing. She’s a veterinarian. Two out of four weeks she cries all day at work. Her co-workers have just learned to pass the Kleenex. Oddly enough she’s in the 6% who got pregnant. Yay! Having a baby has helped a little but not really enough. You can’t throw things with a baby in the house.

I looked at the pharmacy guide and it’s titrate up to 150mg of Zoloft (or first line SSRI) until desired effect is reached.

So we’ll keep you informed. We have hope.

thankyou very much. Yes keep in touch and I will also let you know if it helps me too. I’m scared stuff to rock the boat but I also have to have hope that things can and will improve. I also have a child so I owe it to him to be the best Mum I can be. Good luck to you both. This site is so nice as I have realised there is a massive community of us that feel similar so I don’t feel quite so “wrong” Thankyou xxx
