Hello Community,

I have been on paroxetine for almost 6 weeks now and did see much difference in my depression however still not as much on my anxiety. Is 6 weeks enough for it to start working or does it take bit longer? My dose was increased by 12.5mg 2 days ago. Please advice. Doctor says it can take upto 6 to 8 weeks.

Hi Jkse,Listen to your body and your doctor.

Since we are all put together differently, the time it takes for medication 💊 to take full effect can vary.

If you think the medication isn't giving you the relief you want, just say so. There are quite a few alternatives to choose from.

Its not that it is not working, just trying to understand the timeline when it will start working and show 100% effect I know it takes about 6 to 8 weeks. I’ve already been on six weeks and I can definitely see the results. Just need some more advice in terms of when will I see 100% result

Sorry, I don't have a crystal ball in terms of if and when you feel the most benefit. Most people will say 8 weeks is a long enough trial 🙄

Also be aware that 100% better is the therapeutic goal but for some people, residual symptoms may remain and then its time for the doctor conversation 😉

They really can take a good 8 weeks to get in your system sometimes. There can be very slight subtle changes until it's fully in the system so if you can keep on with it. If after 8 weeks nothing has changed then chat with gp and say it's not working. I'd been on them years ago and they worked for me but took a time to get working. Xx

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I will continue eight weeks and then go from there.

Until it’s fully in the system can you get anxiety on and off?
