Drowsiness from medication...

I tried to post this earlier but it didn’t post for some reason so I’m sorry if it somehow ends up being a repeat somehow.

Anyone have any suggestions for dealing with drowsiness from medication that doesn’t involve consuming caffeine? I’m trying to stay off caffeine. I’m taking two medications that cause drowsiness. I’m going to talk to my psychiatrist about adjusting my meds. But I was hoping that there might be some other things I can do to help with the drowsiness.

My suggestion is going for a walk, that’s what I normally do. I find the fresh air and movement and sunshine gets me through the worst of it. I think any kind of exercise helps but that’s just my favorite. Sometimes though, especially when I’m dealing with depression, the drowsiness is too intense and I can’t manage shaking it off enough to get some exercise. So I was hoping some other people who deal with this might have some good suggestions.

Thank you for reading and thanks in advance for any advice, tips and/or suggestions! 😻

I only take meds at night that cause drowsiness. If my doc and I decide I need it during the day I switch meds or take less and increase/titrate up very slowly. There are some that are extended release so if taken at night you’ll do fine during the day plus sleep well at night.

Best of luck to you

Thanks for the idea! I’ll ask my psychiatrist if there’s something like that I can switch to!
