Hello, I have just joined this site. I am 58 years old and sometimes suffer from anxiety and depression. Some days are better than others but it’s the feeling really low and at times not knowing what to that has a big impact on me.

Hi Miracle. I'm fairly new here too. I also struggle with depression and anxiety. And like you, some days are better than others. Im a bit "fragile" so I tend to withdraw to avoid misunderstandings but then I feel lonely. I experience a lot of guilt and shame for feeling like this. I think I'm too hard in myself. Much harder than I am on others. Keep posting. I hope we can support each other. Hugs

Same boat- it’s a constant struggle to maintain balance and aim for more good days than bad. This is a good site for support on those low days. I try to give support to others on my good days (here and there).

Hello, Welcome

Like you I am getting older, sixty nine and I still have problems relating to my outlook in life.

Sad to say I have been ill on and of since been a teenager. I look back on what was, while looking forward to what might happen. Personally now I feel there is a plan to all this as we get older, you are not alone.

How can we help

I'm almost 65. I know all the cliches about living, such as live till u die and life is what you make it or age is just a number and so on. But....when the rubber hits the road I wonder did I even make a difference? What am I going to do with the rest of my life? I have noticed that people with large close knit families tend to do better. Not 100%, but many. Geeze. I don't mean to sound so bleak :( At this age we have experienced numerous transitions. Maybe I've forgotten how difficult the others were?????

All I can suggest is make a list of those times when you needed to make changes in the pathway of life. Those times of positive events and expectations. Yes we make errors or problems for others however consider what goodness you have achieved through life.

Like you I see the pitfalls, and problems with others, although look again and you will see those positive times in your life and all the achievements you have managed for you and others.

We all make errors, however we do good or achieve something positive. working on and writing down in two lists of good and bad may just surprise you and change your negative mood and bad expectations

Hi I guess just by knowing that this site is available and that I am not alone in how I feel is helping. Just being able to talk helps a lot

Have you talked to your Doctor regards your Mental Health ?

Try Relaxation Technique Mindfulness, you can purchase a book on the subject on Amazon.

Breathing techniques may also help they can be found on the web, they may help

If not already make an appointment with your GP, make a list of your concerns and discuss the list in surgery, A pathway to help may be arranged, medication and Therapy
