I have started something new that seems to be working. When my brain starts cycling down a path of self-created arguments, I have started telling myself "fake news!" when i realize what I am doing.
Have you ever done the same? Had a thought and then respond to that thought..and before you know it you are so upset about a situation that hasn't even happened!
I was driving in the car the other day and found myself doing that. I was alone so I said outloud... Fake News! It made me laugh but was a way to jolt myself out of that frame of thought.
I'll let you know how it goes as I keep doing it!

Good for you!!! Yes, yes, I do the same thing...and shut my negative / anxiety self-talk down quickly (that is key for me). Can’t let it get ahold of my attentions. I have posted preciously on here about my using a mantra-like response to myself for many unwanted, crazy-brain-paths...
Depends on the topic, but all say I am fine, nothing to worry about. Whatever it is...I will take care of it....Now Hush it!!
I’ve gotten to where I can just use the last part over the years, and just say...Now Hush it!!
More recently, I have used “No more today” to stop thinking specifically about grief related stuff. That works for me too...most of the time.
I agree—out-loud is best!! Something about saying it AND hearing it at the same time that must help my stubborn head. Lol.
We have to remember, we control our brains...and the more we can come up with work-arounds, and little life tricks to help ourselves disconnect from the anxiety, or depression, or whatever...the better we will feel.
Thanks for reminding me that I should find other “tricks” to keep helping myself progress...
Hope you keep doing that and feeling better. 🍄 🌞 🌸
Please keep me updated on how it goes as you keep doing it. I am going to start trying this as well! I constantly am arguing with my thoughts and have bad/negative thought patterns, so maybe this will help! I hope it does! 😊
Yippee. I hope it helps you too. Be as stern as you need to be, and consistent...well, relentless really. Say it every time, no matter how many times you have to. Eventually the frequency does get less, and now mine sort of gives up even before getting started. 😂
I think of it as my inner negativity-bully. Nope, can’t let it be the boss of me!! Let us know how it goes for you. 🍄 🌸 🌞
