POST 4: WHY IS EVERYBODY LOOKING AT ME?!?

Hello everyone!

I hope all is well and you’re all doing good. As for me, I’m not doing so well.

Earlier today, I went out to run some errands and then I stopped in to McDonald’s to get a quick lunch. After I ordered my food, I saw an old couple. They were eating and then I felt the guy looking at me and talking crap with his ugly wife with his toothless alcohol smelling self. I was this close to confronting him but didn’t. Then, it felt as if everyone else in the store were looking at me as if I’m some common criminal. I felt so anxious and my sunglasses weren’t doing much justice to lessen my anxiety. Everybody had their eyes on me as if I had a big wad of snot running down my nose or if I have the scarlet red A on my shirt or something.

Anyway, I don’t like the feeling of being looked at.

TheWhiteRose, what a horrible experience. I hate it when I feel people are looking at me and talking about me. I am sorry this happened to you. Some people are just nosy and like to people watch. I bet it was nothing bad about you.

You seemed to have looked at the couple at the table and made some negative judgements about them?

People are in their own world. When we are anxious or depressed we feel people are looking and judging. I think that's because we don't feel comfortable with ourselves.

I'm Learning in therapy that what I think is happening around me in a room is just my own insecurity. That's what I have to work on
