So .. I have written quite a few things on this forum, and my main advice has been rather intense, willpower-over-all strategy. Which works for many people I hope. To conquer your fears and problems.
.
Looking back - I admit there may have been some good alternatives to my strict DISCIPLINE approach. I was introduced to yoga recently. While not exactly my thing as an athlete, yoga has one interesting element that seems very calming
- You do the stretches in a way that you take position and let your body sink further. I.e. you do not push yourself.
It was interesting that you can get quite far, and have amazing flexibility after several times (like month +), while allowing natural progress.
That made me think that you can approach life this way as well - do the job and let the nature take you further, make you better, stronger etc. Volume training.
You don't need to push yourself, you simply need to to the work

I am good with my willpower fueled life, but I saw a glimpse into concepts that if you are ok with slower progress and do not/cannot invest into methodical planning of your life activities, then you can still get further pretty well by being CONSISTENT and allowing the natural course take you further.
In context of anxiety and depression that would probably mean to learn to relax and balance your life and not push yourself too much.
I agree with you but it's important to recognise that especially with depression the main problem is finding the motivation in the first place. Now if you had an answer to that...... x
Competition with others. with nature. It tries to kill us all the time.
I find motivation in organizing things, like business ventures.
It's like doing art - you build detail by detail and then have this grand scheme that works on semi-auto regime and brings some benefits to people, be it bar providing drinks, or a company doing IT work, or a company that helps people with getting best deal for their vacation, or gets them unique experiences or rare things.
