Hello Venus123. I’m so sorry to hear about what your daughter is going through. I’m not a parent but I see how frustrated and sad my mom is when she has to watch me suffer with my anxiety on a daily basis. I don’t have too much experience with depression but for anxiety, this is what I have to say. As a parent, you should encourage her to engage in more habits that will work to heal her. If she believes in God, prayer, theres also I journaling, deep breathing (the calm app is awesome for that), meditation, self affirmations, crying if need be, self care, therapy, medication if needed etc.

Just make sure you’re supportive by being there to listen and not to judge. Something I had to tell my mom not to do is to say things like “you just need to get over this. You just need to snap out of it. You just need to get back to where you were and you’ll be fine”. At the end of the day, both anxiety and depression are chemical imbalances in the brain that cannot be healed by just snapping out of it. It’s a long road to recovery but it is possible so hold on to that hope.

Thank you Lia, I try to encourage her to do things that calm her like reading drinking teas even watching movies. It helps sometimes but only for a short time. She is on many meds but nothing seems to help anxiety or depression. We even tried marijuana cookies that seems to help, but we have to find a legal distributer.

Hi, is she on any medication to help? Non medical treatments can be magnesium baths or sprays, it can be taken internally but get a high quality magnesium that won’t cause stomach upset. Also calming tea like chamomile and valerian. But for hard to to treat anxiety, medication does help quite a bit. I hate to see anyone suffer

She is on multiple meds she has been diagnosed with other disorders. We just can't find the right combination to treat all. We will keep trying. I'm going to try the baths where can we get the magnesium?

Amazon is the best place. She can take a little magnesium citrate, very little to start. Or have her take an Epsom salt bath with a lot of magnesium flakes. Has she tried CBD oil? You mentioned edibles works, maybe CBD alone can help.

What I hear you saying is that you are suffering too. I know you would take this pain on, if you could, to spare your child. Has she seen a doctor and is she on medication. I'm not a doctor, but I am a former anxiety patient and I remember getting medication to take the edge off and then therapy to figure out where the anxiety is coming from. You can help her by loving her and holding her. Reassuring her that this won't last forever and with time and effort she will get well. Maybe trying group therapy would get her motivated. Finding others with the same problems can make you feel less alone.. You can make a big difference in her recovery. Pam

Hello

Yes she is on multiple medications. She has been diagnosed with other mental disorders. The meds don't seem to work for the anxiety and depression. She goes to counseling but it doesn't really help. I believe she probably will do better with peer to peer but can't find any local programs. We are still searching in Kissimmee Florida. Thanks for your reply.

@Venus123 I can only imagine how hard it is to watch someone you love suffering and feel as though there is nothing you can do to help. You are trying and you are giving it your best. There often won't be a single solution and the combination of meds and counseling does help but it could definitely take years for your daughter to get into a good routine so don't give up. Have you tried a therapist who specializes in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)? This type of therapy is proven effective in dealing with several psychological disorders including anxiety. I know you have been patient with this, please continue to be patient. Your daughter's healing will come.
