Get outside!

It's difficult to be be depressed in this kind of setting. Especially when it's a view from you font yard.

Enviroment plays a huge role in our mood and well being.

Things are loosening up and opening up daily. Nature is always open. Depression and anxiety often prevents us from getting outdoors. But you have to sometimes kick yourself in the butt and get out. Find your " Happy Place " ( I hate clichés) wherever it is for you. Go to it as often as you can and get lost in it for a while.

Grounding. Literally sitting on the ground ( or laying down ) connects us to the Earth and can restore us..if you allow it to.

That's not just a Treehugger thing. It's been clinically proven to be beneficial to all aspects of our well being.

So get outside! Hug a tree, roll around on some grass, sit on a rock, go jump in a lake. As long as you can comfortably connect with Earth in some way. You'll benefit from it.

It's another tool in your self care tool box.

And yes, that sky is really that clear and that blue.

I should mention that I live at the 5545' elevation Didn't mean to confuse or mislead. It gets steep rapidly from the spot I took the picture from

I totally agree with you and understand your way if thinking. But what about those that can't get out because they are housebound due to illness and have severe mobility issues?

I'm not trying to put a downer on your post because I believe in the healing and great benefits of the great outdoors. But unfortunately I've become a member of the 'indoor club.' I would truly love to get out but I just can't. And I am sure I am not alone.

in reply tohappytulip

I can't really speak to that issue. .Though I try to take a wider view Im not always as aware as I could be

I try to watch alot of nature programs, they help me to feel like I'm outside. But I struggle with watching travel programs. Downright jealousy I guess, because I want to still be exploring.

I don't think its a subject many of us are aware of until it happens to us. I only mention it to raise awareness. My advice is get out and enjoy it while you can 🙂

I hear you that you used to be able to enjoy something and now you can’t. You must feel sad and angry, and that makes sense. I also hear that you have lost or are losing some or most of your mobility. I can’t imagine how tough that must feel to go through that, and I feel for you.

If this is helpful, great. If not, ignore it. I don’t want to “give advice”. I’m just sharing my experience in case it’s helpful.

I am in a situation where I can’t get into nature as much either. Something I’ve been doing is adding some really hardy plants to my indoor space. “Hardy” enough to survive some neglect until they can be watered again. Especially small trees - that are small enough I can manage but big enough to feel like a young tree.. I also bought these bracelets of rock/ crystals. I wear them and look at them to help connect me to nature.

I’m trying to bring the outdoors in, to see if it helps my mood. I’ve also decluttered some. So far it’s seems to be working and shifting my energy for the better. It’s not the same as getting to forest bathe or hike, but I do feel better when I look at the tiny details in the crystals or feel their coolness and touch the soft plant leaves or cool potting soil. I put up sun catchers in windows and it shoots rainbows around my house sometimes, “sunlight” lamps, and pictures of nature in my house. I’m doing what I can.

If others read this and have suggestions for more ways to bring the outdoors in, I’d love to hear it.

Here’s one of the bracelets. The stone is called Tiger Iron

I actually did this today. I’ve been fighting depression for a week and I made myself get out and do some gardening. 3 hours later, I came in and felt so much better. Prob be sore tomorrow but then I might just do it again!!

Great picture! Thanks for the reminder...blue skies always help me....unfortunately it's raining here today. Lol!

Today the sun came out but it's still cool. I went out for a little while, however now I have allergies in the Spring that I didn't used to have. There's a lot of pollen in the air. If it rains I'm okay, but if the sun heats it up, then I start to sneeze and my eyes water. Always something with me!!!

in reply to

I understand. I'm an allergy sufferer as well. I wear a pollen mask when I work outside or hike.. I've learned that just before sunrise and around dusk are the times of low pollen count... EVERY plant in my picture has it's period of pollination. It's a couple of weeks of pollen in the air.

Claratin 10 mg " Redi Tabs " are my salvation.

in reply to

Maybe I should try Claritin . Do you ever use Allegra???

in reply to

I did yes. And the whole range of them at lest once. Either buzzing or semi-conscious The redi tabs of the that brand IMO are fast to dissolve and quick to act

Great energy!! Thank you for the pep talk, you are right if I waited until I felt like doing anything I’d never do anything. I sat outside today and enjoyed my flowers and it did help my mood! Make it a good weekend!!
