Hey guys, i am having lots of trouble falling back to sleep at night and sometimes falling to sleep in general. Ive taken melatonin at all doses, it doesnt help. Im on lexapro and ativan occasionally. Can i take zzquil or unisom while on an antidepressant? What do you all take?

Sleep has been very difficult for me for years.

You need to ask your md about the meds you questioned. Make sure they agree.

Have they tried anything prescription for you? I've tried them all and nothing worked. Mayb your md will give you something.

I can fall asleep just not stay asleep. I bounce up and down all night.

I listen to meditation. That has been helpful

Hopefully others will have good ideas for you.

They tell us it's so important to get good sleep. But, then there's no answer sometimes. It's very frustrating. Now when my body is tired I just listen to it.

If I'm going to be up most of the night anyway I might as well lay down for a nap at 5. So that's what I do.

Oh man. Ya my family is grown.

Try the music or meditation to settle your mind.

Ask your dr if you can take another unisom when you wake up in the middle of the night. I know it's over the counter but I would ask because you are on other things.

My dr was good. She tried every sleep med she could for me. They just didn't work.

I have a nice cup of Yogi Bedtime Tea and use to do that when they were throwing medications at my personality disorder. I remember lexapro always making me slightly edgy.

So how I'd drink the tea is probably helpful and conducive to sleep also. I'd take my time brewing it, put on some soft music, nothing energetic, something minimalist and soft, pick a comfy spot, I picked a window with a nice view, and just relax and sip the tea looking out the window. Point is to just not think. Its very ritualistic and the more you do it the easier it gets and the more of a habit it becomes.

I'm up all night though if your ever up and stressing.

I take half of a 1 mg Ativan, plus 50 mg diphenhydramine (generic Benadryl). Then I listen to something from Audible or YouTube until I fall back to sleep. Listening to something other than music takes my mind off the fact that I am not sleeping and I fall back to sleep much quicker.
