My pleasure...no need to thank me! When I say everything I really do mean everything..eyebrows, chin, ears..etc... and when doing just concentrate on it while doing deep breathing. Love, peace, light, joy & hugs...
have you tried using a blue light filter for any screen or maybe exercise or a hot shower before bed I have lavender scent in my room all the time and additon I also take melatonin and suntheaine
Melatonin is good for sleeping it's a hormone hope you manage to get some sleep
I’ve had bouts of awful insomnia. For mild bouts I can use melatonin, magnesium oil on the feet and or valerian root tea. For bad insomnia I have a prescription for Ambien. For extremely bad insomnia I need to be on Lexapro 10mg and take Ambien at night.
you haven't slept for days also?
Oh yes, I remember a few years ago literally not being able to sleep for days. I went to the emergency room and they gave me Ativan, it knocked me out. Since then I’ve had insomnia off and on. I have medication on hand if needed.
are you doing fine now?
And cut out any caffeine.....and drink holy basil tea ...lovely with honey 🌤thanks for the recommendation lynnalice 😊
Oh yes!! Holy basil is amazing, thanks for reminding me Alan 😊
I’d say that ambien is great but it’s also highly addictive!!! It can be very helpful if you can be resistant enough to it’s temptations. I use ambien only when I struggle to fall asleep and really need the next day to feel “powerful”.
Blue light kills your brain - change settings in all your devices. You can get used to it just after few hours.
Depression really ruins sleep. Read with the dimmed light. Try to keep your place cooler. But most important- talk to your doctor and try some stable medication that would help you stay asleep. Mirtazapine is very helpful.
Oh! And try meditating. There are great apps for that. Headspace or calm are really easy to use
hi. thank you so much but meditating doesnt help me.
Some people find meditation helpful, but for others it can make anxiety worse. My advice is to talk to a doctor about the sleep issues. There are lots of meds (non-addictive) that can help you get sleep; and once you break the cycle of “I’m not sleeping, which makes me more anxious, which then affects my sleep” you will start feeling much better. Trust me - call your doctor.
I had that over Christmas and I was so stressed and exhausted. I take sleeping pills but also took some anti histamines to help that bit extra
you havent slept for days also?
Melatonin over the counter was recomended to me by a pharmacist
anywhere from 3-9milligrams near bedtime. If you have a primary care doctor
or a psychiatrist to prescribe trazadone betweeen 50mg-150mg is usually helpful and is
non-addictive. I am personally experienced with both and I have taken the maximum
dose together of both.
Hi tinkerbel,
I've gone for days without sleep. I've had anxiety-induced insomnia (and the obsession with sleep that goes with it. And the worry about the effects of no sleep.) And I've also had episodes of no sleep due to work (I am in health care) and being generally over-scheduled . I no longer have any anxiety related to insomnia, but it took me a while to lose my fear of it. I recommend a casual, "whatever" attitude towards sleeplessness. It cures insomnia Because of course anxiety about insomnia causes insomnia. And truly there is nothing to worry about. The human body was meant to endure episodes of sleeplessness and stress throughout life. I work with docs on call and they go for days without sleep and no stress about it. And they are docs- of all the people who would know if lack of sleep is dangerous, you'd think they would know, right? But they are fine. Tired, but fine.
If you can't sleep, I recommend you get up and do something. Tell yourself, "cool. Now I have time to xxx" (knit, write, plan trips, whatever you like to do). Then when you feel sleepy, go back to bed. No sleep? Get up again and do something. Don't lay in bed tossing and turning, bemoaning the fact that you are awake when you want to sleep. Instead, make use of the extra time!
Lots of people don't sleep much but don't worry about it. My Grandma Lois used to say, "sleep is for babies!" She was such a spitfire. I'd sometimes find her doing things like cleaning the chimney or cooking a 10-course meal at 2 AM. She always had a smile on her face- happy as a clam. She was always puttering around all night. She lived to 88! My Father in law was a surgeon and he'd sleep 3-4 hours a night for weeks on end. Even when he wasn't on call he'd be last to bed and first up. He was the healthiest guy. He died in a swimming accident. The difference between their sleeplessness and yours (and once mine) is the fear. Don't believe the alarmist bunk you read on the internet about "lack of sleep causes....(all these terrible things)". I promise you, it's garbage.
Your body will start to sleep when it needs it and then it will catch up on any lost sleep. Trust your body to handle this just fine. There's nothing at all to fear with a little insomnia.
thank you so much for sharing with me your experience. It somehow help me. right now I'm back on my meds. I hope that this will stop. I worry about having anxiety again. and all this physical pain caused why I can't sleep. everytime I go to bed and tell myself to sleep heart keeps on palpitate and the back pain it's really serious. I'm glad I am a part of this community it helps me a lot. by the way did you take meds to stop your anxiety? or did you did it naturally?
For several months in 2014 I was only sleeping 2-3 hours a night. With an occasional weekend binge of sleep for 12+ hours. I was miserable. Melatonin helped some. I would also get out of bed and go sit on the couch and watch TV until I fell asleep there. Finally I went to my doctor and they put me on Effexor for my anxiety, and my sleep patterns normalized.
Certain tv shows work better than others. I used to put on HGTV. Nowadays if I have a bit of trouble I put on reruns of Friends. Its gotta be something light and happy.
