G'day Folks,

Since my accident in March, I've been told that it looks like I have PTSD. (I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as someone who's been through war, or bereavement. I broke my wrist so not even major trauma) I've been waiting for an appointment with the specialist counsellor but haven't had any help beyond the few counselling sessions I was given at the start of my treatment after the crash. My journey's on the road (or near the road) have been more stressful in general but this morning was different. The bus did something that really freaked me out. I ended up getting off early, really shaken and when I got to work and saw one of my mates, I burst into tears. That was about three hours ago. I'm still quite shaken and I'm trying to focus on other things. Fortunately my reception desk is pretty quiet today so I'm able to get focused on jobs without stopping too often to serve people.

The usual things that I do to deal with my regular depression and anxiety disorder are not working with this and I'm at a loss regarding how to get on top of this. Because I'm unable to get an appointment with the counsellor, I'm kind of in limbo. Just wondering if anyone has had treatment for PTSD and if they could offer any suggestions? I'm trying to distract myself with music and games but I feel like as time goes on, I'm just getting worse. Perhaps that's why I had the reaction that I did.

Hi Cookie, PTSD isn’t only diagnosed in military personnel and you have been through a traumatic event. I, myself have been dealing with it for nearly two decades; however, it does get better day by day. I take meds and do therapy-so far so- good. I hope this helps. 🇺🇸

Thanks dangerousmind4523. I know you can get it for all sorts of things. I have heard that when you have dep and anx disorder it can also make you more susceptible to it after a traumatic event. I already take medication for my dep and anx but I think it doesn't help me with the PTSD so I think I might talk to my Doc about coming off them. I don't think the side effects justify the intended result in this case. Just before getting your message, I literally just got a message from the counselling service to say that they were able to find me an appointment which is fantastic. I only have to wait until Monday to start dealing with this properly.

Good to know. I am not a fan of many docs because they tend to get their info mixed up at times. I hope that things get better for you. 🇺🇸
