Who else feels like they have bad luck? Sometimes I feel as if the universe is set against me
I have a question: Who else feels like... - Anxiety and Depre...
I have a question
I've felt like that, but I realized that I had an inflated sense of importance. I felt like a protagonist, and when challenges arose, and I couldn't overcome them, life felt unfair. It felt poorly written, like it wasn't supposed to be like that.
Now I like to think I'm more accepting of failure. When something doesn't go my way, despite my efforts, I don't let it bring me down. Understanding that failure is not only an option, but it is likely, helps me cope with failure and learn from it.
I suppose yes we all go through negative period of bad luck, like when we consider the Government Premium Bonds, UK we have had these worthless bits of paper since marriage and we have only won £25 STG.
Life is just the same we go through times especially when Anxious or Depressed where everything goes wrong and we feel unable to sort out those negative things that upset and disrupt our lives.
How can we help
BOB
Hi Bob thank you for caring. Replying and sharing your experience is enough thanks again
Hello Garfield
One thing I use as a diversion is You Tube, I have various channels I enjoy from Ghost Stories to general interest etc etc. Music is a fine example, you tube records my likes from Folk to pop etc, they then make up lists of music I enjoy, these lists have fifty or so tracks on each, I have six of these different mood channels to listen to
When I am really low or in pain I go on site and enter into various lists of programs.
On other sites I watch the news when wanted from various unlimited sources, I generally go through programs in my lists and if I find programs I wish to watch later I put them in my watch later list so I always have something to divert my thoughts
Give it a try, sometimes we need to blast our negative, depressive moods and anxiety down, you have a source you can interrogate if and when the need arises.
BOB
Thank you for caring BOB !
Hello Garfield24, I hear you. I often feel like I have bad luck or that life isn't fair. I've always felt that there are four kinds of people in the world: 1) Lucky and Talented, such as Tom Hanks, Bill Gates, Sarina Williams, etc. 2) Lucky and Untalented, Paris Hilton, the Kardashians, etc, 3) Talented and Unlucky such as me and most other people who have skills but just never seem to 'get the break'. 4) Unlucky and Untalented, Most homeless people and convenience store clerks. I have a particular skill that I'm very good at but the introduction of computers made me obsolete allowing anybody to have my particular skill. I was still able to keep my head above water by charging less than everyone else but then I developed Multiple Sclerosis so I'm tired all the time, depressed and in pain making it hard to concentrate. I have a good sense of humor to hide behind but also spend a lot of time wishing I'd have a coronary or hit by a truck and be done with life. I won't lie, I'm jealous of lucky people. I have a friend who's father was a Talented and Luck person an mad a fortune so my friend doesn't have to work or worry about bills. Of course like most Lucky people they feel compelled to tell me not to worry about anything as if they can relate. Saying things like "just go on a trip someplace and forget about everything for awhile"..... Anyway, I don't have any solutions to offer or advice. Perhaps it's a little comforting to know that your are not alone.
Yes it does a ton. So many thanks to you!
I agree with you and your theory
Remember the good things that you do have, and don't give up on the things that you are trying to achieve. If you have anxiety or depression it makes things a little harder to achieve ( for me even something as easy as cooking becomes a disaster, I burn everything and forget half the ingredients). I think of it like things maybe harder for a blind person or someone in a wheelchair. Focus on the good, and think of the bad as a challenge you have to overcome.
So, my wife has objectively terrible luck. It is uncanny and I cannot explain it.
How so?
Sometimes what we see in others is very different from what they feel inside. I have a visable problem and some might feel sorry for me, but it turned out t be the best thing that ever happened to me. It opened the door to many opportunities and allowed me to help many others as well
Hi Garfield24, I worked with a gentlemen once who always said "if it weren't for bad luck,
I'd have no luck at all". We would all laugh which only prompted him to say it more often. Actually, I learned something from those words that have helped me through my life. It's not about the bad luck we experience in life but what we become because of it.
I really believe that I am a stronger person physically, mentally and emotionally because
of that learning experience. When life is too perfect, we don't have that chance to grow.
Everything that has happened to me in my life was meant for a reason. And I accept that x
True true. Very wise
Blaming the universe is our refusal to take responsibility for our own action and choices. Talent is nice to have , but hard work will take you farther. Life isn't fair of course , but making comparisons is self defeating Do your best with what you have. Pam.
Thanks Pam. ☺
