Hello, am glad for you that you have a diagnosis...but that's what it is, a diagnosis.....you are too important to have a "label."

Did your doctor, hopefully, who is a psychiatrist, explain what the difference was between your diagnosis and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Or are they same, but just different names?

In any case...HURRAH! You seem so relieved to have received this news from your doctor. Have you discussed with him/her what course of care you will receive to help you?

PTSD = Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. There's a group here for that. I'm getting over that... I'm self diagnosed. I jump still at loud noises. Sometimes not so loud noises. Like the telephone. Like a man getting argumentative or an attitude like my late husband with dementia did. It was torture the way he would startle me and then carry on.

I can't find stress trauma disorder, I get PTSD only. Can anybody else find it? I wonder if they are one and the same.

in reply to BonnieSue

Bonne Sue, I asked the same question in my reply. PTSD appears to have become a bit like the "diagnosis of the day" in recent years....but requires some very different approaches than "just pills". Have never heard of stress trauma disorder. Really am hoping Victoria1968 is receiving a proper diagnosis, as she states she won't take the pills prescribed.

So what has happened since then? Have you learned anything more about your stress trauma disorder? How about what your doctor wants you to do to get better besides taking pills?
