I’ve had depression for years. I use to go to a therapist when I was younger but it was a bad experience so I haven’t been back since. I just wanted to know how you guys deal with depression. Should I try to get medical help or should I try things that might just lift my spirits for a couple hours like working out or listening to music?

i would start looking for a therapist, and also begin working on yourself. Start with the working out and finding music that is uplifting, these things are great and do help, but also look online for a therapist in your area that seems like someone who may fit your needs. Make an appointment once you find someone that fits and give it a try. Don’t give up after the first appointment, it took a few visits before i really started to open up and feel better. Also try not to be discouraged, i know things can be difficult, but you’re not alone.
Search till you find the answer, which is different for many. One thing that is vital for all is doing what is best for you, physically so that mentally and emotionally you are supported to deal with the difficulties. So, taking magnesium malate and ginseng are great to calm the mind body and spirit. Ginseng is great for getting rid of sticky negative thoughts that loop and bring anxiety. Helping others also helps you so volunteering is great for you too. Being outside, laying on grass and soaking in sun is great too. Best to you, you got this! Exercise and music are also great mood lifters. =)
all of them would help sorry you had a bad experience the next therapist may well be the therapist who helps change your life.
