Sometimes your underlying health may contribute to feelings of anxiety and depression.

Had the same. Was prescribed an serotonin uptake inhibitor by a psychiatrist who said I was suicidal. I took one tablet and felt so queer, I had to stop the medication. That same week I had blood tests back which indicated my blood glucose levels were 15. The doctor said to ask my GP about the blood levels but he did not indicate that they were far too high so left it. It took three years of tiredness and other symptoms, before I changed practice and had a test and lo for three years I had had type 2 diabetes. It is now under control and feel heaps better, but without drugs, as they upset my liver and digestion.

Feel sure you will get help from this site and sister sites to help you.

It is health issue causing my depression

I don't know Emily. There are life events and family issues and things in your past that can lead to depression. Bereavement or a break up in relationship or the stress in your life. All I can say is that if you have certain health checks which can be helped by supplements you may feel better. If you are on medication, I am not saying don't take it but check the other health signs which your are experiencing such as infections and debilitation from may be anaemia or thyroid problems, You say you are going to try and eat more healthily but sometimes if you have food intolerances, or you are not eating the right foods to give you enough vitamin D K C and essential minerals iron magnesium copper zinc potassium your mental health as well as your physical health can be affected. If you are on any medication you can look it up on drugs.com for side effects. Some drugs prescribed for depression and anxiety can also precipitate suicidal thoughts in some people. Drugs.com does give reviews and interactions with other drugs and foods so you can check to see if tiredness lethargy muscular weakness and depression are listed. It is fear of the unknown which is making you worry so if you can find out basic information about the drugs you are taking from drugs leaflets and online you might be able to pinpoint something you did not know about. The other health checks such as vitamins and minerals are important but you may have to ask your doctor or practice manager for these extra tests but as you have had a lot of infections you might want to know if your blood sugar is too high or if you have these deficiencies which can be corrected. Vitamin D is prescribed for cases of deficiency in some practices but it depends where you live. If your have a healthcare provider they might do the tests under your health care scheme. Do you live in the UK?
