The cushioned, higher toilet seat with grab bars attached sure help.
Now on to the couch and the bed.
Couch too low. No legs to make couch higher. Not enough strength to propel myself forward and off the couch. 3 cushions attached. Can't put grab bar handles in between.
Due to Tumor on right side of body I have to sleep with right side of body facing the mattress. Left side of body facing the ceiling. Struggle to turn, roll, move over to sit up to figure out how to get out of bed.
Isn't there a USA organization that would go to house of low income handicap person to assess the situation?
All that info and I still haven't even approached the subject of how the anxiety is pounding away inside of me!

Hi Marheart know how you feel. Had mobility ops with a cancer lesion on my leg where it was hard to heal. I had bought the loo seat raiser. Also have a riser recliner chair which you may find second hand. This tilts you to a standing position. The most helpful aid might be an electric bed raiser which helps you sit up when your muscles are weak. You press a button and the head of bed will help you and the bottom may be raised too in some beds. Will look at some mobility companies in the US. In the Uk we are allowed loans to buy these, if on social security. May be you have a department of welfare, and for people with mobility issues? Sorry you have a tumour, but may be this may be helped? Thank goodness your son came to help.
Have you looked online at
electropedic.com.
for your region?
Looks good with personal attention. Good pictures of electro raiser beds on branch pages. Went through Yelp to find info.
Had problem getting out of bed. As your couch is too low do you think a high tog duvet placed on top of couch would help. I have a bariatric quad walking cane with adjustable height. I used this today to see if it would help get off a low settee. It is from Drive medical Health care UK which specialises in home care aids.. It has four legs made of steel which you can put weight on levering yourself out of bed to standing position. Ideal if you are not tall as it can be adjusted. May be your local town would have a mobility store with a similar design.
