I think your words definitely helped alot of us, i know it made me feel much better after i read your post earlier(but I have similar religious preferences ) It is very courageous and thoughtful of you to take the time to apologize to those you may have offended. I hope no one took the references of your religion too personally. You have a great night as well.

Your last post was fine and there was nothing wrong with it so please don't worry about it.

Saying you believe in god and your beliefs have helped you is fine. What happened a few months ago is that unfortunately a number of members joined and started quoting scriptures at us non believers telling us we have to believe otherwise we would go to hell. And so on. They were astonished that there were unbelievers here and started promoting their own particular religion and ranting and raving - it was a bit like being at a gospel meeting! (Never been to one but it's how I imagined it would be).

As this site is for everyone equally regardless if they believe or not or whether they follow a different religion ie Muslim, Paganism etc. HU put a post up stating that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable and no one is to promote their own religion on any HU site.

I do know there are some members here who would love nothing more than to turn this site into a Christian or Catholic based one so I get a little bit twitchy when religion is mentioned I'm afraid. x

The voice of reason, Thank you hypercat. I am a Christian and I imagine it's because of where I was born and how I was raised. I think of myself as spiritual rather than religious . I have no desire to force my beliefs on others and yet when someone writes religious dogma I get real comfort from it. I suppose it's because it gives hope of something beyond this world . If any of you feel compelled to change my thinking, don't bother . I will either be delighted, or I won't. Pam

Ha ha Pam. I would never try and force my beliefs on anyone, but equally I won't be persuaded to others views either, no matter how much they insist. x

I agree with you didn't mean to imply otherwise.My beliefs are no more valid than yours. I happen to think a lot of people don't know why they think as the do. I was speaking in general. Just in case, God bless you.

So far it's a great day but about to change. I have a MRI this afternoon on my spine . I already know what my problem is. I'm getting old and the whole system is wearing out. I say this being as cheerful as I can possibly be considering my options.lol,Pam

Oh dear. Well at least you are getting an MRI done. I have been suffering with back pain for many years but in the last 2 it has been unbearable. My doctor just sends me to NHS physio who just give me a list of exercises to do! I asked physio for an x-ray and she said no point as this was only done in the case of surgery. She then said I was 'probably' suffering from a degenerative disease so I asked her what she meant and she said most likely osteoarthritis. Now I know this can be seen on an x-ray but they aren't interested.

The NHS treat me as though I woke up this morning with a slight twinge in my back instead of the crippling pain I suffer and then mutter brightly oh it's old age. What a load of ^$£*(*^ x

Jrick I think your post was perfectly put earlier. I definitely like your response to my post all the time and appreciate the scripture reminders so please don’t stop when you respond to me at least. You’ve been a great help.

Non-believers have no right to be offended because someone mentions God was/is part of their recovery. They have a duty to be tolerant as do believers towards non believers. And most are.

I missed the religious recruiting episode someone mentioned but trying to convert people to a religion or a particular religious group is a misuse of this forum and should be reported to Admin without delay.

I must have missed that post. You’re very kind. However if you can’t let people express what helps them or you have to watch what you say around other adults then they are the crippled ones. I believe in God. I believe it’s others rights not to and I’m not going to base my desire to help us both on that. That’s like saying ‘hey you’re short, we can’t have short people on this site’. It is what it is. Keep your heart and mind open. It’s beautiful.
