Just prescribed Lexapro

Has anyone had any experiences of their own with this SSRI? I’m starting it tomorrow.. 🤞🏼

I’ve been taking it since April (I think). It’s been helpful for me, I have gad and depression.

Thank you. Since April..what’s your dose look like now? I’m starting at 10 which I believe is pretty typical starting out

I started on 5 mg went up to 10 now taking 15mg. It really started to help me at 15mg.

I take lexapro 10mg it works but not a miracle worker. The only side effect I had was no appetite for the first few weeks. Good luck!

Sorry I meant to ask, I’m an every weeknight wine drinker, 2-3 classes..sometimes more on weekends.

Have you drank while on it? Has it effected you at all in this regard?

I realize I’ll have to cut back a tad but just curious about potential side effects

I used to drink wine with Lexapro until I started having panic attacks after drinking alcohol Talk to your doctor mine said it was not a problem if you drink responsibly

Hi there. I started 19 days ago. 5 mgs then increased to 10 mgs after 2 weeks. Between days 4 - 9 I had horrible side effects (excessive yawning, foggy headed, dry mouth, no energy, generally felt much worse than I did before). I was tempted to give up but thanks to the support on this site, I kept going. My doc hadn’t warned me so I just wasn’t expecting to feel so bad. And then I woke up Day 10 and the side effects were mostly gone and I’m doing well! I take the pill after lunch, at 2pm as this seems to work for me. I’m sleeping loads better and not waking up with a sick feeling and much less anxious. I’m still trying to get used to the new me. Word of warning: take it very easy on the drinking for the first couple weeks as alcohol intensified the side effects for me. I believe this is quite common. You’ll feel really drugged (as I did) when I had my ‘normal’ quota of alcohol.

I am taking 30 mg ! 20mg was not helping with my panic attacks !

Good luck! I've been on many SSRIs and on Zoloft now. I've been on Lexapro and its supposed to be pretty effective. Just wasn't for me because they didn't realize I was bipolar also. Good luck and I hope you have positive results!
