I have been identified as a creative artist and musician for awhile, but I struggle to really complete anything. I was drawing today and listening to how I feel and I just feel blah about everything. It doesn't bring me joy, or a rush of good emotion. I just don't care about it. Music is even harder, since it requires a lot of time and energy and I have kids and a full time job. I always work with a burst of inspiration and then give up for awhile. Am I just depressed? Or do I need to find other hobbies? My boyfriend says music brings him joy, and thats why he does it, but I definitely don't relate. At least not now.

How do you feel about what you do?
I am an artist and I play music (for fun).
Depression spells kill my motivation & creative spark sometimes.
We all relate to music differently & at different times in our lives.
Your relationship with music and art is unique to you.
Best of luck to you ✨
Hi mom_teacher_artist,
Maybe you could give it a break for awhile? You could spend time pursuing something that gives you something back.
I am a musician also and am getting into writing songs after a long break. It has been so challenging! I like putting a song together, though I work really slowly. My true issue is accepting my own thoughts which become the lyrics. I'm thinking about posting online anonymously when I finish a song, because I want to share but I'm very self-conscious and ashamed, though I try not to be. I'm trying to face my demon (shame) maybe not head-on lol, but face it .
Sorry got off topic here, but good luck to you and if you want to talk about the arts and music, you can text me here.
Regards,
Greta
Losing interest in things that used to bring you a lot of joy is a classic sign of being depressed.
