Hi everyone. I have been on lamictal for almost 2 weeks now.
This past Saturday I upped my dosage from 25mg to 50mg.
I’ve had no side effects thus far until yesterday, when I took it I felt dizzy.
& now again today I feel dizzy. Like I have really bad vertigo almost.
Is this common? I feel like if this were a side effect it would’ve already happened, but I guess it’s possible since I just upped my dose 5 days ago....?
Also. Does it go away? Lol and am I upping it too quick? Even those these are the docs orders.
(P.s. I have had NO LUCK with meds so far. I’ve been on almost every antidepressant you can think of. This is my first mood stabilizer, so idk what to expect, but so far it’s been pleasant. Just need some insight)

Hi dbeck: I take Lamictal and think it has helped me some. I haven't experienced dizziness, but that is listed as one of the more common possible side effects. If it continues and it were me, I'd definitely share that with my doctor. Hope it subsides soon.
I will definitely take this over all the other side effects I’ve had with antidepressants! How did you know it was working? & how long have you been taking it?😇
I've been taking it for a few months now. It's difficult for me to say exactly what it does, because I'm doing a lot of other non-medication things to try to address my anxiety and depression at the same time. But my sense is that it does what it's supposed to do, which is stabilize my mood. Things feel a bit more leveled out, if that makes sense. I don't always feel great, but I don't seem to go as low or as high as before.
Are you doing some other things for the anxiety/depression? I've been trying to practice things other people have shared on here and it has been helpful. I also really like this app called Pacifica that I put on my phone.
Hi dbeck, I take Lamictal and love it. It helps with my anxiety and depression. I have not had any bothersome side effects. I was on it a few years ago and came off of it because I thought it was causing me to have a stiff neck but it turned out to be stress. I was put back on it 4 months ago. It takes a while to get up to the effective dose, you have to go slowly because of a rash you could get. I would talk to your dr about the dizziness. It could be from the med or it could be from something else. good luck
Sooo my anxiety meds that I don’t take are in the same bottle as the lamictal. Turns out I’ve been taking my anxiety meds for the last 2 days. Hence the weird side effects coming out of no where!!!! I can’t believe I did that. Lol 😂
That'll be it then! I'm on Lamotrigine and have been off and on for a few years. I find it very passive even at higher doses - 300-400mg. More than that it messes around with me as I found out one day so be careful. It does work although I need other meds to really pull me up now. Hope it goes well for you.
