Want to get better

Hi

I really want to get better. I’m willing to do anything at this point. I guess I just haven’t found the right doctor. I want to get my anxiety and depression under control and stop being so attached to my partners when I’m in a relationship. I always worry about them first then me. I have been in and out of depression for 6 years. I want to try hypnotherapy. Maybe natural supplements instead of antidepressants. Any advice? Has anyone gotten better? How can I change my thinking? I’m spending so much money on doctors and therapy now. Now they are saying I have ADHD that what causes my anxiety and depression and it causes me to be impulsive in certain situations. What type of therapists you like? The one the listens or gives you feedback?

I have similar issues - anxiety and depression, especially around relationships.

I’m not sure natural methods work as well as medication combined with talk therapy. I tend to trust and believe science. Put it this way: humans are part of nature ourselves. Our capacity to think and reason and do science is part of who we are. If it wasn’t natural, it wouldn’t be there to begin with.

I’m a fan of CBT. There’s a book by David Burns called “Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy.” It has exercises that use a CBT approach to help you re-work your thought processes.

I like therapists to give some feedback. I feel like, I’m paying for their expertise. If I just want someone to listen, I can get that for free by calling a crisis hotline.

I've been trying different approaches as well. I can become impulsive when I am anxious, and also become attached to partners. It's tough! I've tried several therapists and I've found I work well with those who listen and make me feel understood. I can then relax and feel more at peace. I don't like the feeling of taking medications, and do consume more natural supplements--like herbal teas for sleep, and other wellness foods. I eliminated coffee, to reduce anxiety, and alcohol. I've been combining this with meditation, and practices intended for wholeness. I've been feeling improved in the time I've been doing this.

I will definitely be praying for you and that you would find the best options for YOU.

Just keep hope because it will take awhile to find what really works and what doesn't. Give yourself grace! It will take time and we are not super humans that can change ourselves in one day. I know you will be able to heal!!
