Maybe because it’s getting closer for you to go home from work and you just can’t wait to get out of work.
It happens to me too sometimes, the sooner it gets to clocking out the more anxious I get because I just want to get out and get home.
Also look at what your eating, food also can trigger anxiety.
I get anxious during lunch time because for me it’s just an empty space of time where I don’t have anything to distract me. I’m also not usually hungry because I’m anxious but I force myself to eat something because I know I’ll feel worse if I don’t.
I also try to take a walk at lunch time to get some movement and exercise during the day. I’ve also found watching relaxing YouTube videos during lunch helps calm my mind.
That is so interesting. I get that, too! For me, much of my anxiety is involved with worry about not feeling well, which includes GI/stomach issues. So, eating, especially when out with friends or in a restaurant, is a bit anxiety-provoking for me. Also, I agree with the person that posted that you might want to take a look at what you are eating. I know research is mixed about the relationship between caffeine and anxiety, but I but it out a few years ago because why not? If there is a chance of it helping my anxiety...buh bye.
I do have stomach issues related to my anxiety, I also have ibs...I don't drink coffee, and there are lots of food that i can't eat because of ibs but i feel that there's something more to my lunch anxiety. I just can't understand what..
An anxious patient is more likely to have a flare-up of IBS. A flare up of IBS can cause anxiety.
If you are near the Canadian border you might want to ask your GI DR about Domperidone. The best GI doc I ever worked with used to send his patients across the border for it.
I am not suggesting this a nurse, just passing on what the DR. advised.
Thank you for your help, but I am from Portugal. My doctor gave me meds to "control" my IBS, but I avoid them. I believe it is too much for my stomach and liver.
Do you think it may be a time to sit down and assess the job? How much you feel you need to get done? Will a problem flare up when you are not there to avert it? Lunch break time is important as it allows the brain to file everything you have done so far that day. If we work through breaks we may be performing below our abilities for the 2nd half of the shift.
