Ideas?

I hear that a lot of people take a Self-Care day, I think maybe it could help de-stress for a day but I have no clue what I’d even do. If anyone has taken one of these days, what are some things that you did? (If you don’t mind sharing of course)

I do what makes me happy.

I take a book at a coffee shop and get something I usually count calories for and forget about calories. Or take a drive.

Hannahx13, I use to take a day here and there just for me. Scratch everything

off my "to do" list and do some "me time". For me it included a relaxing bath,

some meditation and relaxing on the couch with a sweet treat and a cup of hot

tea, a blanket and a good movie. I'd order in dinner at night and use the evening

in continuing to wind down. The next day, I felt more ready to take on the world

feeling refreshed in both mind and body. I hope you find what works for you.

It's not an indulgence but a necessity at times dealing with stress. :) xx

Hi Hannah,

I suppose it depends on your interests, I like to have a nice hot bath and read my book. Sometimes I’ll give myself a facial, nothing too complicated just use an exfoiliator and a face mask/ moisturiser. I might go for a walk somewhere nice like a park or the beach. Go for a coffee and take my book. I’m into art so going to galleries just to wander around for me is really relaxing. If I’m feeling a bit tired and crappy then a pyjama day with some nice food and good telly/ Netflix. If I’m feeling more active then I might go to the gym or a yoga class xx

I took a half Self-Care Day yesterday. I wasn't feeling great so I slept in, I think going to yoga would have been nice but I ran out of time. I went shopping for some new yoga pants, and bought some fabric to recover my dining room chairs, did some errands. I snuggled up in bed early and watched my favorite shows with my kitties.

I try to look at every day as being a Self-Care day, meaning that each day I try to be mindful of my physical health and mental well-being, avoiding or minimizing distress in its various forms.

The best Self Care day for me is when driving into the office I say to myself, "I really don't want to do this", I exit the freeway, go the other way and head back home, call my daughter and tell her not to take the kiddos to day care and deliver them to Grandma's house, and spend the day loving and spoiling my grandchildren. Nothing does more for my mental health, which includes lifting my spirits by focusing on what's truly important in life which to me is the joy of my family, my grandchildren in particular.

I spent 3 hours at the spa courtesy of my boss. It was heaven.
