Hi, I’m new on this site and will be interested to see how active it is. I have spent many years struggling with depression and have even received some excellent treatment that successfully treats my depression most of the time. However, I am not as disciplined as I need to be to always keep the relapses at bay. Then it is like I need a tune up. I’m tired of this cycle and want to be batter about handling my continuing needs. Guess when I feel good it is just harder to see some of the things I need to do to stay healthy as absolutely necessary. Suggestions gratefully considered. Many thanks for your time in reading this.

How do you treat your depression? What kind of treatment do you recieve? What medication are you drinking? I’m currently on pristiq but i’m thinking to change my anti-depressant.
I’ve been on a combination of Parnate, Abilify and Mirapex for most of the last 12 years. The Parnate is my primary antidepressant and has been for over 20 years. Periodically I’ve tried other things. Tried lots before getting to this. But nothing else has worked for me.
On the psychological side of things, I worked with a psychologist who is very strict about her application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for a little over 22 years. For reasons beyond my or my Psychologist’s control, I had to make a change in psychologists and just haven’t found anyone who I feel really comfortable with.
Hope that answers your question and maybe even helps you.
LadyVox - have you tried going to a support group in your area? It might help you feel more accountable to yourself.

Hi LadyVox, welcome! I’m very new here too, almost a week. Everyone I’ve met here is kind and great support. It’s so nice to be making some good friends who “get it” & are willing to reach out.
About your wonderings on better self-care, well I struggle with that myself. If I learn something that works, I’ll be glad to share it with you.
Yes, the hard thing is when you get better for a bit you think you don't need to take anything then end up back where you were. If you're looking for something natural to supplement if it's ok with your Drs, here is a great combo that work well to stop anxiety/depression and ptsd: Taking magnesium and ginseng calm the mind body and spirit and get rid of sticky negative thoughts that loop around. They are not an overnight cure but taken regularly, balance us out and are very beneficial. =) Keep on keeping on! Talk to your Dr. first tho, k?
Thank you for the suggestions.
