Social Phobia is so Frustrating

I have been working hard with my therapist to address my generalized anxiety. I've been feeling so trapped by my social phobia lately though. My only friend my age lives hours away. I'm scared I will never be able to make new friends, date, or have a healthy social life. The thought of meeting new people terrifies me, but I want to make connections so badly. I know exposure is important when dealing with a phobia, but it's just so terrifying to put myself out there. I want things to be better, but I don't even know where to start.

I suffered the same and Im still dealing with it but the more work I do w the therapist the better I feel. Please know that there is help out there for it. There is hope! It's not a death sentence to have this type of phobia or fears in general. It is certainly treatable!! I say this all the time here & I will say it again..you are not alone, millions of people in the US suffer from anxiety and depression.

can really relate kitten...are you taking any meds? Zoloft is suppose to help with social anxiety, and other anxieties quite well..that said, I've been on it quite a few weeks, and unfortunately haven't noticed anything, at least not yet..have to keep going, and believe it will kick in and start to make some kind of difference..
