Hello: so my doctor says that once anti depressants kick in, that sleep improves. Has anyone found this to be true? I tried both sertraline and lexapro and both only worsened my insomnia so I stopped taking them after 3 months. I cannot take remeron (though it supposedly helps you sleep) because it has a tendency to raise your cholesterol and mine is already high. Any suggestions? Thanks...

Anti depressants and sleep
Personally it didn't help me at all.
I take Zoloft. My sleep isn’t bad. Have you tried that med?
Hi! I've been taking lexapro por a year now and at the begining as you said it didn't help at all. I had to combine it with a sleep medication that my doctor prescribed me. As the months passed I started diminushing the sleep medication until I could sleep well taking only lexapro. So yes, it takes a while and in my case the doctor had to prescribe me sleep meds to combine.
I've been on every antidepressant and sleep med there is. I am taking 50 mg of zoloft. It really helpful for sleep. I found if I went up or down just 25 mg more or less I was unable to sleep. Weird. I also take seroquel for sleep.
I was just prescribed Remeron last week but had to stop taking it due to severe side effects. I didn't know it could also cause an elevated cholesterol level.
