Tired 😓 I

I’m up two hours and have been in a high state of anxiety since. I’m so sick of this constant fear of dying, I actually feel like I’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I got up feeling nauseous, high pulse, feeling of dread, then the negative thoughts started. Why can’t I just have a break for one day? I don’t know what to do or where to turn anymore. I’ve taken two Xanax but they’re not working. I’m doing everything ‘right’, meditation, CBT etc and I’m trying acceptance but NOTHING is working. I think I’m going to go into a psychiatric hospital until I die cause I don’t feel I’m going to beat this illness. I’ve been trying for years, never giving up but I feel like I’m just destined to live this tortured, miserable existence.

Please, never give up!!! I vicious cycle of anxiety makes you think that there is no hope. It sounds like you are not on the correct meds that will help. Make that happen!

Thank you. I’m only on Xanax when needed, I’m going to ask GP to prescribe me something straight after Christmas. My kids are begging to go do something fun today and I just feel so anxious I want to stay at home all day. I hate my anxiety affecting them 😒

If Xanax are not helping, you must really be suffering. I am sorry! What other medications are you on? I have had times when I was doing everything right and I was not getting better. It turned out my medication was wrong and I was hypomanic. My brain would not stop. It got better once I got off of the medication and on a mood stabilizer. Perhaps a stay at a hospital would be an option if you cannot get some relief.

Hi im michele.i have had panic attacks since I was 9 years old. I was on xanax for 10 years. At first it worked great but I developed a tolerance to it and i kept taking more and more pills and i became addicted. And xanax withdrawal was so bad that they had to detox me at the hospital. Now they give me buspar for anxiety. It works but it takes a week to kick in. Also on zoloft which can help with the anxiety. But i would still be panicky and my hands would shake,i would get dizzy and my heart would be racing. The doctor prescribed my propranolol which is a beta blocker that slows down your heart from pounding this combo of meds helped my panic attacks

Hi Michelle, thanks for reply. I had panic attacks as a child aswell but had a total break from them all through my teens and twenties. I’ve had severe anxiety now for almost 4 years and it’s hell 😔

I take daily propranolol (beta blocker) which was prescribed for migraine prevention but has had the most profound impact on my health anxiety. If I drink a lot or take a lot of caffeine I still get some panicky symptoms but generally I'm miles better. I've had nights like you described here, you definitely don't need to live that way and you definitely shouldn't give up. Getting the therapies and medications just right is your mission, and you will achieve it Goldilocks! Just keep shuffling things and trying new things. Keep talking to the doctor and keep your chin up.

Sending love xx
