This reminds me of the book Secret Life Of Bees because one of the characters did this as a coping mechanism, she also had a certain spot outside where she’d go to and stack stones and write down her stresses.

Does anyone automatically hum a certain tune or count as a reaction to high stress not even realizing it at first?

Yes, certain songs relax me and I might hum them or play them on my computer. Soft, pretty songs from the '80's especially. I like to write poems, sad emotional ones, when I'm upset. Mostly, I just talk to my friends like you, BonnieSue or others. That seems to help me the most, my bright, shining Star.
Anarchy in the uk by the sex pistols 🎵really loud is a great stress reliever 🖖🙂
Yes I do all the time and it drives me crazy.
Mine is my OCD mind as my brain never relaxes.
Do you have OCD?
Yes I think so, maybe without thinking xxx
I remember that movie. I usually try to breathe and pray. Not quite the same as singing/humming, but it has a similar effect - to calm me down.
