Has anyone ever been diagnosed with stress related gastritis? How long did it last? How was it treated?

Curious because they did a scope and is now bleeding gastritis. I take omeprazole. Just curious if anyone had experience with is because of anxiety and if it was reoccurring for them.

A common effect of anxiety is have trouble with gastritis. I am very anxious at the moment and suffering myself I take pepto bismol; it works for me though I was on omeprezole; it didn't work for me but the pepto bismol does. It's a pink liquid which in the Uk you can buy from a chemist ( In US it's called a drug store I think)

It was quite terrible for me. I had extremely strong pain in my stomach from time to time lasting about a day. Lost my consciousness once. I went in for a number of blood tests, endoscopy and ultrasound scans. The diagnosis of stress related gastritis was drawn.

Apart from the medication which involved Denol, Omiprazole and antibiotics, my doctor advised I pay strong attention to my diet and stress levels. Oat meals are the best for breakfast, eat a lot of yogurts and avoid chilly food and pickles.

Get enough sleep and try as much as possible not to stress yourself. To help me achieve this she prescribed some natural supplements and vitamins including DIM PURE 200Mg by EU Natural. This helps to calm me in stress and gives a very relaxing sleep. I use it and have been much better for over a year now, no more pains. I have stopped the antibiotics and other drugs, just on the DIM and paying attention to my diet.

Also workouts help to. Hope this helps

Thank you. I go back to the doctors in a couple weeks. I’ve changed up my diet, not sure if it’s really helping but it’s a start. I’m very sensitive to medications so of course the omeprazole makes my wanna throw up. Working on my anxiety everyday as I know this is the main culprit. Happy holidays.

It is. stress, nervousness. You got a stressful job or something?

Oh and never ever skip breakfast. No matter what you are having (oat meals are recommended) but never skip. And drink a lot of water

I have stress related gastritis. For the third time. No bleeding and I treat it with nexium. I have had upper Gi’s and an endoscopy. They think it’s related to fluctuations in acid production from having babies. Scares me and really takes over my mind. I’m trying my best to not let it but it consumes me. It’s reassuring that they told me it’s common for moms to come in with this. They have such fluctuations of hormones that it affects their gut. Did you notice an onset after having kids?

No my kids are preteens and it just started in the last six months. It’s been horrible and they keeping switching my medicine for it.

I imagine you’ve changed your diet and al that fun stuff. Prilosec didn’t work as well for me. Nexium works well. I am also taking the food allergy test fell everlywell. Really hope it gives me some info.

My gastro told me how common this is. Really surprising how many people I’ve met or talked to with it. Sucks.

I have taken everything out of my diet they told me too (no alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, citrusy foods, I don’t smoke, no peppermint, and no spicy foods). I tried omeprazole but made me dizzy and nauseous. Now on Zantac and just finished carafate. They told me that some people just develop more acid in their stomach over time. 🤔 I really don’t want to be on meds for ever as the side effects and long term effects to your kidneys can be bad. Being on medicine freaks me out anyways. Good luck and I hope it gets better.
