Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve been in high anxiety and started feeling these sensations. Support and experiences would be appreciated.

Hi Sweetpea,

This is very common with anxiety.

You have seen the doc and had a basic workup, correct?

Assuming your doc has told you this is anxiety, understand that your nervous system is simply sensitized. I have great resources for DP/DR on my profile. I suggest Dr. Claire Weekes' work first (book and audio). She refers to this as "Feelings of unreality". Her audio is my favorite. Your nerves just need some time to settle back down, and by losing the fear of these sensations, that is exactly what happens over time.

Wishing you all the best~

Thank you! Yes I’ve been to the doctor but have not really had a work up just told I have anxiety.

I do see a counselor and have been listing to audio books on anxiety.

The “unreality thing” is one of the most awful sensations. It instantly throws me in panic.

Do you have meds for your anxiety? I find them very helpful.

I’ve had anxiety for years and will have to listen to that audio book. My nerves feel jumpy and it’s hard to calm down and that’s when I take my meds.

I hope you find relief for your anxiety!

no meds I’ve taken an anti depressant before to treat my anxiety and its helped. That was years ago. I’m currently pregnant and don’t want to take anything. It’s just the new fear/feeling of DP and DR is scarey...

Thank you for sharing you problem. I am having the same thing too. I am sitting in bed and I called into work for the fourth day in a row. I started a new med to help with my cognitive abilities because I need to do a lot better at work so that could be it. One day this week I was curled in a tight ball on my bed and was just frozen there. It makes me scared and a little paranoid. Also, I cannot quiet my mind. Sorry I don't have any help to offer but I wanted you to know that you are not alone.

I have stage 4 breast cancer and the treatment has cut my work performance by 40%. That is why I asked to try modafinil. You might read about it and see if it could be a possibility for you. I also go the therapy and to a group support program every week in addition to asking a lot of people to pray pray pray!

Thank you for sharing! You are going through so much. I couldn’t imagine anxiety on top of it. I’m going to say a prayer for you and your family!
