Hi DogHusky,

I'm sorry to hear your depression and anxiety is feeling worse.

This time of year it can suddenly become harder for a lot of us due to the change in the seasons, so know you probably aren't alone in this.

It's important to understand the depression and anxiety can be difficult and it's 100% okay to take your time with these feelings. Allow yourself to sympathise with your own situation, we all know how difficult it is here.

Secondly, a number of changes can help in your situation. Do you have a husky? I do too, and sometimes just making sure to wake up in the mornings and know that she relies on me to get out there and walk makes me feel better. It's hard to get out of the door sometimes, but once you're there, you'll find it gets easier.

Thirdly, depending on where you are, there are often services which offer counselling for free, it would allow you to talk to a professional about how you're feeling. Not every counsellor is going to be the same, so it's often about finding the right one that can help you out. It sometimes helps to get an outsiders look on your situation and help you to talk through some of the aspects that you believe may have brought this on.

Lastly, speaking to your doctor may help. They deal with this on a daily basis and can help point you in the direction of help or even consider medication. Sometimes, if you're already on antidepressants and anti anxiety tablets you need to change it up. But they'll be able to give more advice on that for you.

Again, it's important to know that you're not alone in this, and everyone here at times will go through the same stuff. Talking to a trusted relative may help.

I hope you feel better soon,

Liz x

I have dog but not husky. I add it cuz I always think husky is beautiful. I don’t trust myself to get better. I have been done this for 30 year. Why again. I am very exhausted

Well, there are plenty of people here to talk with. As you've shown though, you can do this! You've been doing very well for 13 years, you can get back to that place. X

hmm, without going into detail - have you been worried depression will return? Perhaps a change of perspective can help - i.e. do things that make you happy, not things that combat depression. they can overlap, but your goal is not to combat depression, as you told it was already basically dead.

Don't make your brain recreate the structures that subconsciously uptake depression as a part of you. Make your brain create structures where you are striving for happiness.

Hi DogHusky,

Just remember you got through these feelings the last time they were at their worst, and you will get through them again.

Since you’ve already defeated them once, there is no fear in them because you have defeated them when they were at their strongest.

You will be victorious in this fight, so focus on that outcome. Also, pick up a journal and write down all the feelings and thoughts that trouble you.

Hello DogHusky,

I hope you are feeling better today. I can sympathize, somewhat, with you since last month I found myself feeling extremely sad and missing my family. I was wondering if there was a group of friends or a social club you could be part of? Have you considered volunteering at an organization to get your mind engaged? This method helped me have something to look forward to and make the effort to get up in the morning. Would you be open to reaching out for help? Do you already see a doctor? So good to be proactive and make sure you go in and see a professional. I can forward you a great resource you can contact free of charge.

I pray that tomorrow finds you in better health.

Not what you're looking for?
