We all have depression and/or anxiety. Lets separate ourselves from the rest of the crowd. Lets learn about each other and get to know one another. Share one thing about yourself that not many people on here know. You can comment on here or start your own post. Whatever you like. Ill start.

My wife and I are foster parents. We currently have 10 kids. 3 biological ages 16, 14, and 6. Adopted 2 siblings ages 10 and 9. 5 foster children 3 of which are cousins to the 2 adopted children. Ages 12, 11, 4, 3, and 6 months.

Am I crazy? Absolutely but I got a love in my heart!

You, Aaron, and your wife are amazing, incredible people. To open your home and your heart to so many kids is both awe-inspiring...and humbling.

I have one bioligical son, now 27, who will graduate in May with a dual degree in Pharmacology and Business. I also had a foster child from age 14 to 18 who then joined the Army.

One was hard enough.

Do not EVER question your self-worth.

You most certainly matter. To those children blessed enough to have you and your wife.

I appreciate you Dominic! We've had 5 kids that have gone to other homes. One child needed to be the only child. We weren't a good fit for him. He went to another foster home adopted by a gay man who then closed his home feeling he was complete. One baby went back to her biological mother. One girl simply needed a home for one night. CPS couldn't find a home in the middle of the night and nobody wanted to sleep in the office. The last two boys were half brothers and had different fathers. One went to his paternal aunt and uncle. The other went to his paternal grandparents.

I can only imagine the courage it takes to do what you and your wife are doing.

I smiled when I read that you had adopted, foster and biological kids. What a great way to share your love. Your house must be full of laughter and love.

I have one child. She's 25 now so I guess she's more of a young adult. She lives with me since she only has two part-time jobs right now. If she lived alone I would probably be making two rent payments every month. I'm glad to have her although some days I would love to be alone. It's easier to decide on dinner if you are by yourself.

I kicked my husband out three years ago for cheating on me. My world shattered when I found out. My trust was broken. My heart splintered. I've been without a love interest since then because I'm afraid to get hurt again. And I've lost 3 family members in the past two years (Grandmother, uncle and father). My sisters won't even speak to me. We lost Mom almost 10 years ago. And a grandfather about 5 years ago.

For now, It's safer to just be alone.

I'm sorry about all your losses. That sucks. I'd hire you as a babysitter! Lmao. There is a lit of love and laughter but its not all good times. There's a lit of teen and pre teen attitudes. 3 girls 10 and up means a lot of emotions too. 2 boys with ADHD can be trying on nerves. 2 are intellectually disabled. Sometimes its not all laughter but its worth every second.

My daughter's friends come to me for advice because I'm not their parent. They just need a person to listen to them without judgment. I tried to do the same with my daughter and she turned out to be a great person. She's also a sarcastic, stubborn, thinker who can make you laugh over the weirdest things. In other words, she's just like me. Glad I only had one.

As for babysitting, I'm old enough to be a grandmother. I'll take the kids for an hour or two. I couldn't do much more than that unless they all go to bed at 8:30. I go to bed at 9. You can pick them up at 6 in the morning, send them off to school. LOL

Wow Aaron my friend!!! Wow wow wow I am in awe of you and your wife! You guys are heros.

Hmm something about me is I used to play field hockey and soccer and track in high school, I did work as an instructional therapist one on one and in the classroom with children with autism. Now I stay home with my 6 and 11 yr old and I also have a 23 year old. All boys!

aaronm profile image
aaronmโ€ข in reply toStarrlight

That's awesome. I love soccer and I was on the track team. I was a long distance runner. I loved running. Unfortunately I've chipped away all the cartilage in my knees so its bone on bone which also causes excruciating shin splints if I run now. I exercise by playing sports whenever possible and walking.

You are right. So, I will share something here. All of my family have passed away. As a single person all alone, that has tripled my difficulty in getting through my problems. Until I met the people on this site. God bless all of you! Especially you, A!

Respect for bringing up all those children. I have 2 great-grandsons, 3 grandsons and 2 daughters. Probably one of very few on here who remember bombs falling in WW2. Love the Internet but prefer to live in the past.

I have a secret!!!!! I used to be so scared to ride the bus when I was a kid with the older kids, so I would hide behind the tree until the bus passed & go inside to tell my mama that I missed the bus! She would take me to school & buy me a chicken biscuit! I did that twice a week for like 5 years! Hehehe! I recently came clean about it & she wasnโ€™t happy! ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

Sillysausage234 profile image
Sillysausage234โ€ข in reply to

That was very naughty and to take the biscuits ๐Ÿช on false pretences im disappointed.

โ€ข in reply toSillysausage234

Hehehe! I was a bad girl! My mama knew deep down that I did it on purpose! I was the last one to get on in the mornings & the big kids wouldnโ€™t ever let me sit down. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Wow Aaron, that takes a lot of heart and love to foster! You and your wife are making such a big difference in their lives. Be proud!

A secret...I have always wanted to be a drummer in a rock n roll band! Instead I am a librarian lol.

Hahaha. That's funny that they are the two extremes at least by perception.

I am proud. I get the greatest joy in seeing the kids excel at something when before their excellence would have normally been snuffed out because of abuse.
