I'm sure this question has been asked before but I'm new here so I'd like to find out if anyone has any experience switching from Cymbalta to Zoloft? I used to love Cymbalta but after a number of years taking it, it has caused my blood pressure to spike to dangerous levels so I have to switch to something else. Zoloft is my psychiatrist's pick and he seems to think I can just start taking the Zoloft and discontinue the Cymbalta all within a week. Does anyone have any experience with this situation? I'd like to avoid the crazy Cymbalta withdrawal at all costs.

Switching from Cymbalta to Zoloft
I haven’t taken Cymbalta but I have taken Zoloft. For me, (I had the liquid because I was younger) I had to always take it with food and I couldn’t have milk with it or I would get sick.
If you are taking pills, this may not happen. I just wanted to let you know and be careful!

I never switched, but I take zoloft and never had any problems with it. I find it to be a good fit for me.
My experience with Zoloft is that you have to slowly increase and that w cymbalta you would be tapering - ask Dr about that .
it may take a couple of weeks ,- when I was thinking of changing from Zoloft to Effexor that’s the way my dr was going to do it .
I think slower is better . ( I do know they are different category antidepressants )
Thanks for the response. The psych ended up having me take the Cymbalta every other day while I built up the Zoloft over 5 days....then he had me quit cold turkey. It was one of the most awful things I've ever experienced and I was very close to checking into a hospital.
Been off Cymbalta about 5 days now and am finally feeling a bit better. Still having horribly anxious moments and lots of nausea but they gave me a benzo for that. I hate taking them yet sometimes its all I can do to make it through.
