Has anyone experienced severe withdrawals going off Cymbalta?

Hi there, I've been struggling a lot with Cymbalta/Duloxetine. Went on it about a year and half ago. Never felt like it helped enough so I started to taper around 8 moths ago. I was taking 100mg and my doctor had me go down, except she had me skip the 20mg and go from 40 to 0. I had the worst withdrawals. My nausea was so bad I had to go to the ER. I couldn't function so I decided to reluctantly go back on. Fast forward to January...I decided to try again. My doctor suggested going on Zoloft, which I was on many years ago. So I went on a low dose as I tapered off very slowly of the Cymbalta. When I got to two weeks being on 20mg I decided to stop. I thought it was enough time, but once again I am experiencing horrible nausea. I just want to be done with this! Has anyone else dealt with horrible withdrawals like this? It's so hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hidden thanks for your reply. I did talk to my doctor and we made a plan this time to taper very slowly. I guess it wasn't slow enough! Haven't been to the ER this time but got very sick. I've decided to go back on a very low dose and stay there for a while. Crossing my fingers!

Hi, I took Duloxetine for about 8 years and last year it stopped working for me so my GP tapered me off them whilst putting me on Mirtazapine.I had an awful 3 months and thought I would never feel ok again but luckily the side effects have worn off. I now wish I had gone on the higher dose of Duloxetine 120 mg as it was a better medication than Mirtazapine. Couldn’t go through all that again so sticking with what I have got. Take care

Sorry for not replying sooner. I've been struggling with this whole med change so haven't been online for a while. I can totally relate to your story. I just want this drug out of my system. I hope you're doing ok!

Hi Rose, I didn't have much luck with Zoloft, but that maybe just me, I have tried a lot of drugs without much success. Mirtazapine helped for a while. I hope Zoloft works for you or you find something that helps.

Thanks so much. I'm still slowly going up on the Zoloft so I'll see how it goes!

I have been on Duloxetine several years. I am also taking Buproprion. They do help but at higher doses they leave me felling numb. no feelings at all. My Doctor Decreased the dosage and that seems to help. Maybe you need to have a different med added. Not a doctor.

Duloxetine just wasn't working for me. I gave it a little over a year and just decided I needed to try something else. Crossing my fingers the Zoloft helps!
