Hey everyone, I hope you are all having a great day
I have seen different books and videos recommended for anxiety and depression, but I am wondering if anyone in this community has actually read/listened/watched anything that you feel has worked in some way? If so, what would you recommend?
After some time searching the internet and recent suggestions, I am currently listening to Dr. Claire Weekes- Pass Through Panic on Youtube. It is helping me to better understand panic disorder, which is in turn making me feel calmer. Does anyone have experience with her books?
Thank you!

Thank you for your suggestions. I recently downloaded a mindfulness app called 'headspace' for meditation- I really like it because it is very relaxing and I can feel a difference after I meditate. I haven't looked up mindfulness books, but that sounds like something I would really enjoy. Thanks again!
Claire Weekes wrote several books in her lifetime, she lectured and appeared on TV throughout the world and influenced many other self-help authors.
I read her first book in 1974 and despite my anxiety disorder being inherited I am free of it 95% of the time and it is mild when it comes, all thanks to her.
In recent years there have been 1,600 reader reviews of all her books on amazon.co.uk and amazon.com and 90% rated her books Very Good or Excellent.
Her first book was titled 'Self help for your nerves' in the U.K. and the same book titled 'Hope and help for your nerves' in the U.S. (both available new or used from Amazon or ebay). This is the pre-eminant self help book in my opinion: it brings understanding, reassurance and a plan that will set you on the Yellow Brick Road to recovery.
Oh wow- how neat! I was reading many positive things about her. I actually saw a few comments here on HU where she was mentioned, as well as the support group I attend, and I started researching her. I'm glad I did.
Thank you for sharing your experience with me, and I hope to one day have more control over my anxiety. It gives me hope that you do, because I know I can, too. Thanks again, Jeff, and I hope you have a great day
Jane a agree with Jeff. I also read all the books from Claire Weekes and her books helped me initially to understand anxiety and to give me hope. I read her books many years ago and today i am not totally immune to anxiety but i have a better way to deal with it. I am also practicing mindfulness meditation, yoga and exercise.
Hello. I’ve been watching the YouTube videos from Dr Elaine Ryan which I think are pretty good. She touches on various subjects on anxiety. She really knowledgeable and I believe is an expert on the subject of anxiety. Let me know what you think. Samson
Thank you, Samson. I will look up the videos tomorrow and let you know. I really appreciate the suggestion because I have come across a ton of wacky videos, so it helps to reach out and find legitimate people. Again, many thanks
Hey there, I wanted to tell you I watched one of Dr. Elaine Ryan's videos and I agree- I like the way how she discusses anxiety. She's definitely a professional and I look forward to watching more of her videos. Thanks again for the suggestion Samson.
I’m glad you liked it. I think she’s great. I like the way she describes the ways in which we can deal with anxiety issues. She’s very knowledgeable. I’m glad I can help. Samson
I too, have struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. I am not familiar with these books. Have you spoken with your primary physician? Also, here is a group (855-382-5433) that you can contact and they can point you in the direction of free resources. Blessings on your journey!
