I haven’t felt anxiety in my body for sooo long.... and tonight it’s back... I decided to stop taking my meds as of 2 months ago. Now I’m debating whether I should get back on them again.... I’m so tired of dealing with this.... one day I’m crying the next I’m panicking... I’m trying to be strong for my daughter... I just don’t know how much longer I can take it...

It’s back
Honestly, I'd get back on the meds and then revisit the question of whether or not you need them. But I think the answer is probably already right there: you are wondering if you can make it and you want to stay strong for your daughter. If you are crying and panicking regularly - that says it all. I wouldn't go off the meds until I had experimented with strategies to cope if things don't go well.
And coming here is probably a good strategy, but you probably should also revisit your doctor.
Thank you so much for your response.. I definitely will have to see my psychiatrist again... I just have to see when I’ll have the time.
This is too serious to wait until you have the time. I've found that this just becomes an excuse not to make the time. Going off your meds without your Dr's guidance may make it difficult to get to the same level of relief you had before. Sometimes, the brain makes chemicals that cause depression/anxiety. The meds we take may be ones that counteract that process, not cure it. That is one reason it's important to have a Dr monitor reducing or eliminating a med. They can help you determine if you have an emotion that with time and treatment can be handled, or if it is a chemical imbalance that needs long term treatment.
Hoping things get better for you.
Hi I suggest that you talk to a Dr. I have two friends who take themselves off meds for anxiety, bipolar and them there symptoms reappear. I am a firm believer unless you have severe side effects don't go off your meds without a Dr's approval. I hope this helps you.
Thank you for your response, yes I just thought maybe I was ready to do this on my own... but clearly I still need my medicine in order to push forward
See your psychiatrist. I took lexapro like 10 years I left it on my own about 8 months ago and I started having anxiety since August. My pcp gave me lexapro again I took it about 10 weeks with not much relief. On Saturday he changes my meds to Zoloft and here I am trying to get out of anxiety. I had depression before. It’s been so hard to keep up with my mental illness. I even took FMLA from work to try to cope with this. Everyone is differente but I learned the hard way I should had never left my meds and should had started on something diffrent. Take care
Yes I currently take Zoloft and I honestly have seen a difference with it. Thank you so much for your response.
How long have you taken Zoloft? Did it take a while to help you. I started on 25mg praying And hoping they work
I’ve been on Zoloft since the birth of of my daughter it’s been almost two years. It started to work for the first time after a couple of weeks. I think it was 2-3 weeks.
I hope mine works right away and I’ll never leave it without my doctors advice I have learned the hard way not to ever leave anti depressants cold turkey.
hello darling!
if you do decide to get back the on the meds, just make sure you're taking vitamins and minerals, and a B12, I suggest you do some research on holistic healings and herbs. In my personal experience, I have been off meds for three years now, I have taken the natural holistic route. and it has worked wonders for me, but it is all about what you have the patience and strength to endure. wishing you well with love and light Namaste Ase'
What minerals do you take? I want to stay away from meds and am very interested in a holistic approach to treating anxiety and depression, thanks,
I can so relate to your problem i wonder if i'll ever be the person i once was. I had a nervous breakdown about 2 monthes ago, panic attacks, and anxiety. I'm 47 yrs old and have never dealt with anxiety until now. It has been very debilitating, paralzying, been very hard to just deal with life, recently started therapy and seeing a psychiatrist, to proceed to meds, i think the key to anxiety is to get out of your head as much as possible, and staying on the meds, not sure its ever healthy to just come off of them completely. If your seeking help, find out your options and what may help you more
I'm here with you.
In order to be the strong, stable and best version of ourselves, we need to have the best physical and mental health possible. And the medications help achieve this optimal health in ways that our bodies are not doing by themselves. I agree with others that meeting with your psychiatrist should be a priority in order to determine what a good medication plan for you will be going forward. I'm sure your sweet little one can be your motivation, right?
just thought I would check back to see how you are doing this week?
