Work anxiety

I work two jobs. One job gives me such extreme anxiety, feelings of worthlessness, and just plain despair while my other job gives me a temporary escape from my thoughts. I just contacted a doctor for my anxiety and depression but won’t be seen for another month. Is it inappropriate to ask about being taken out of work for awhile on leave in order to help calm myself.

Hi KittyR15,

No I don’t think it’s inappropriate. Are you considering taking leave from the job that gives you anxiety? Will you need to get a note from your doctor? That’s something you should probably say your employer and doctor.

Take time for you. Working 2 jobs is incredibly stressful.

Take care. Hugs, Dee

Hi if you feel too sick to work them why not take sick leave? It's not appropriate or inappropriate but depends on your needs. I don't know which country you live so can't advise the sickness procedure. x

No it's more than ok! I'm on leave now from my job and it has helped a lot! Don't feel guilty. Leave exists for the exact reason you currently need it for.

In the mean time, if in the USA, perhaps you could contact NAMI. Also, is it possible that the stress of working the two jobs is the reason? I would think that this would be quite stressful.

I wish I could take a leave from my job. But I work for a neurologist and he says just pop a pill and get back to work. But my job is one of the reasons why I'm the way that I am now. Sigh......
