I want to quit work bc I can't deal with anxiety
If your anxiety and depression make you want to quit your job then they are serious enough to be treated. Ask around about a good psychiatrist and a good counselor and make appointments asap. The psychiatrist is the expert at diagnosing the types of depression and anxiety and the meds most likely to work for you and the counselor will help you manage your life and understand and handle your disorders. Both are important and necessary to enjoy and normalize your life.
Plenty of us have depression and anxiety but we are very functional because we take our meds and accept counseling. We learn to ask the right questions and manage our diseases and disorders and life in general because life is always throwing curveballs at people and we have the advantage of having someone we know to toss the curveball questions to. Please take good care of yourself and get back to me to tell me how you're doing. Take care!
I feel the same I find it hard to get out of bed and am very tired. Tell someone at work. Could you take some holiday or reduce your hours? I broke down and cried at work today it's so hard x
Many years ago I checked myself into an inpatient facility for a week to get my medications corrected and for help. U cannot be fired for mental health reasons. Many jobs have that stipulation in place. I find that doing things to keep my mind off of my anxiety is something that helps. I teach 3 year olds and it is crazy, stressful and busy. Take care of yourself. Having to take a leave is not quitting. It is showing that u come first.
Check with your employer to see if they have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP); don't quit your job! Depending on where you live, it may be hard to get back into the workforce. Take advantage of counseling/therapy. Depending on your diagnosis, maybe you can take a medical leave, either short term or long term? Your job would be protected and this can buy you time.
Dont quit your job. Get mental health help first from a professional if you can. Dont tell youremployer if you dont want to, but get help. Best of luck.
I am on medication (seeing psychiatrist) and social worker. I find in high stress situation at work I still cry in the bathroom and come home exhausted to work thru the depression. What else do u recommend?
It sounds like you need time away from the stress to heal and then you'll be more able to handle your job. But perhaps your present job isn't right for you at all? After my education and working a number of years I learned from job surveys and other sources that I'd picked an especially stressful field in an especially stressful workplace. I was much better off not working and eventually I was able to do so. I know not everyone can do this, but at least I wanted to bring this up for you to think about. Possibly taking a leave of absence and/or looking for work elsewhere with a lower stress environment would be helpful to you.
Do you think you're getting good counseling? And your meds are doing the job they should? Are you eating healthy? Because if they are and you are, then it's the job that's the problem. Unless there's something else I missed? I surely would like to not hear that you're crying at work or anywhere else. This is unresolved depression and sadness. Does your Dr. know about the crying? He/she should. That may be just the input he needs to adjust your antidepressant to the correct dosage. Don't hold back on keeping the Dr. current on how you're doing, good or bad. Call now if you haven't already, please. And take care.
