First time on meds

So I started Prozac (10mg to start) two days ago. So far I’m very very tired and shaky for about 4-6 hours after taking it (especially when I haven’t eaten, this can be fixed). But those side effects aren’t bothersome.

It’s almost like my depression isn’t changed. I know, it’s only been a couple days, and there has been improvement. Like I still have the same thoughts and the same depression, but it “hurts” less. Idek how to explain that. It’s almost taking the edge off of my depression itself...

This probably didn’t make any sense. Thank you for bearing with me, whoever is reading this.

How has everyone else reacted on the first few days/weeks of their medicine? And also how is everyone else on their medication? I’m just curious to see how others react to it too and compare myself, idk

I took me like a week or so before I can see the changes when I started my sertraline.

It will take awhile for the prozac to take affect (a few weeks). Your side effects may go away in that time. When I started lexapro, I was gritting my teeth for a few days but it went away.

Hang in there..

I was prescribed lexapro too! I took it for a day but I became worried! What times would you take it? I’m looking for alternative medication

My doctor did say that it would take a few weeks before I would notice a difference. She said at least a month and to go back and check in with her to see how i liked it. I got a low dose (5mg)

Prozac may take up to six weeks to become effective. I had no side effects and when it started working, it was amazing for me. I felt like MYSELF again for the first time in years. I had energy. I wasn't angry all the time. I wanted to go places and do things. It was great.

Unfortunately, Prozac CAN (I emphasize the "can" - it won't necessarily happen for you) lose effectiveness long-term. Any anti-depressant can - it's as if your brain eventually resets itself to its old "normal." If that happens, you will need to switch anti-depressants. I'm also told that subsequent medications become less effective, and found that to be the case for me.

I urge you to ask your doctor about transcranial magnetic stimulation. It sounds like woo, but it isn't, and works wonderfully well. mayoclinic.org/tests-proced....

Good luck!

I was started on Lexipro about a month ago. the 1st 2 weeks i was taking it about 630am, and it was making me extremely tired at work, to the point where i felt like i would fall asleep, it was also giving me very bad GI issues. I spoke to my PCP, and he recommended switching the time i took the med. So i started taking it about 10am, no feelings of being tired, but i was still having GI issues, and the constant need to fidget ( hands messing with something or tapping my foot) today was my 1st day on Viibryd.
