Scared & feel alone

I have been struggling with anxiety, depression and panic attacks for a while now. I see a psychiatrist for meds but we haven't found the right thing to help my symptoms. It's very frustrating and exhausting feeling this way. I wake up with this overwhelming feeling of something bad happening and it sets the tone for the rest of my day. It is a struggle to function everyday when you feel scared

I understand your situation. Meds are only part of the solution. Changing the thought process that is causing your struggles is very important. I used Rational Emotive Therapy to modify my self talk and irrational thoughts. This lead to several other methods that I practice daily.

I hope that you continue to work to find a solution.

I still have anxiety I use to struggle with panic attacks bad.. well first I’ll say your not alone. With me I had to pray a lot,use mantras, self affirmations, practice mindfulness, gratitude. Become aware of what you are feeling. Learn new coping skills. There’s something called “floating” where when you let time pass thru you during panic attack. You repeat a statement for 1-2 minutes until you feel the symptoms starting to go away and if that statement you get tired of repeating pick another one. (calms your breathing)... Example: These are just thoughts—not reality. I’ve survived this before and I’ll survive this too!Hope this helps!

I feel the same way you do. Therapy and meds are only helping slightly. It's tough to find the right combo---I've been trying for almost three years. And I know that feeling of fear-I know that nothing bad will happen but I still get nervous anyway. Wish I could share some positive methods to help you, but the other posters have great ideas which I will follow. Thank you for sharing.

I agree with everyone on here. It is a balance between meds and change in behavior. You need to find the right medication and start to change your behavior. For example try to change your daily routine. I find that even just a slight modification can help with anxiety. Go for a walk, go for a drive, plan a fun trip.. all these things break up the though process and keep your brain from overthinking.

Also, finding the right medication to help you manage in the symptoms is important. I have tried antidepressants and for me they do not work. My doctor then prescribed xanax and I take it as needed. It has been a life safer. Just knowing I have it makes the difference (even if I dont take it). Everyone is different and you have to find what works for you.

Perhaps carry index cards with affirmations make your own.. here’s more examples... “This to shall pass” “This is only temporary”etc...Distract yourself: Take a shower, Count the money in your wallet, or the count the number of people in line at store, count from backwards from 100 in threes 100,97,94...Hit a pillow over and over with a bat..Find the source are you stressed out?overwhelmed , are you tired? I once was driving and got a panic attack and pulled over sat there closed my eyes. Told my mind to shut up and that I need to be at certain place by a certain time. I did self talk and before I knew it I got on road and made it.. ———————Maybe read every license plate of the cars in front of you —-Well that’s what I thought I’d share with you..
