Does anyone else get a scratching or hissing sound in your head that pulsates? I can feel it in my face and head... It goes away with my antidepressants, but I'm currently between insurance and can't get my meds refilled for another 4 days. This is driving me crazy.

Sounds in Head
Hi ....So presently you are w/o meds for the next 4 days or has it been longer.
Sounds like you may be experiencing the drug withdrawal symptoms. Maybe asking the druggist or your doctor if they can give you a "bridge" prescription for those 4 days to eliminate what you are feeling. x
I've been without for about a week. This unfortunately started before I was ever on drugs, about 4 years ago. I'm definitely going through withdrawals but I have been unable to get any bridge meds from anyone due to the cost of medication. I'm on a high dose of Effexor and it's ridiculously expensive. I'm dealing with the physical symptoms and the mood issues, but since the sound has come back I'm having trouble concentrating and sleeping.
I'm sorry to hear this. Since this started 4 years ago, did the doctors ever say what's causing that sound/sensation? Being without Effexor for a week is certainly not helping. The only other thing I can think of is calling your doctor and seeing if he may have drug samples of the med and dosage you are on. That may be able to pull you through and take away the sounds in your head. xx
They say it's caused by anxiety. Doc has no samples currently.. so I just have to wait it out til Friday. I can't really find anything on anxiety causing this though (every search just pops up tinnitus), and I know I can't be the only one with this issue. I'd study it, but I'm going into animal medicine, not human, and they can't really tell me if they're hearing sounds that don't exist haha
It sounds like tinnitus to me...I get to deal with it as well....it's on again off again....you may get more used to it to where eventually it won't be so pronounced.
Tinnitus doesn't go away with antidepressants. They can generally make it worse. This completely disappears with the meds and only comes back if I have to stop taking them.
Well then...I don't know what it is...I was just thinking out loud...but it sounds like you've got it covered anyway...as soon as the meds are back on board.
Glad to see you've at least got a handle on it...for the most part.
