Help. So confused.

So I’ve posted this before on a different group (on an app) but I’m just feeling so down right now so I’ll ask everyone else.

Does anyone else get this globus sensation? I’ve had it for over 8 months. It feels like something’s stuck in the back of my throat and there isn’t anything there. I got tests done and obviously it isn’t throat cancer. So I’m not sure. They say it happens when we have anxiety but i haven’t had an attack for a few days.

Hello aaj23!

Honestly, I don’t think your throat is what’s causing you to feel anxious, but health anxiety in general. I have read other posts from you regarding your health. My advice to you would be to let go of all worries related to your health. You have had yourself checked out and you’re fine...trust in that and focus on something else every time you begin to worry about your health. So many better things out there to occupy your mind! I wish peace of mind for you...🌺🌞🌺

Hi aaj23, I agree with the thoughts of "GratitudeFirst" in that it's not your throat sensation causing you to feel anxious. Rather it's your generalized anxiety causing this continued globus sensation. We do not have to be in an anxiety attack in order for our body to produce symptoms. Our subconscious mind is always playing these anxious thoughts whether we realize it or not, even when we are sleeping.

Try using some "me time" in quieting down those thoughts through Mindfulness Meditation and Deep Breathing which can be found on YouTube. Practice doing this daily and I think you will feel some results with your throat. Don't forget the throat is made up of muscles that tighten when we are anxious. It just takes a momentary thought to produce that sensation which then makes us scared which then tightens the muscle more and the cycle has begun.

Using positive reinforcement in that there is not a physical reason for this sensation but an emotional one. 2 videos from YouTube that may help you are :

I have anxiety and depression and had the same feeling in my throat. I smoked at the time and after a smoke it seemed worse. It would also come and go. Pretty sure it’s from the anxiety.
