Daughter has been recently diagnosed with a GAD and depression. Trying to learn more about ways to support her.

Her mind is in a prison, she knows what she thinks and fears is not logical but she can’t help it. It’s a very helpless feeling. Encourage small steps each day, little victories will help her self esteem. Find what she is passionate about and finds meaning in and help her focus on goals related to that. I recommend videos by Douglas Bloch on YouTube and books by Claire Weekes.

Thank you. Have been reading a ton and listens to as many podcasts that I can. She currently is in Therapy and on medications. Our new family mantra is “ Today is better than yesterday.” Trying to find and have her implement some grounding techniques when she feels anxious.

Thank you. Doctor Weekes definitely shapes GAD in a way that you understand that a person isn’t broken, but processes things differently

I love the family mantra!

Your daughter is so lucky to have a mother that cares so much and wants to make living with gad and depression as bearable as possible.
