I’ve started Xanax as needed 1 2mg per day and does not seem to stop my panic attack. 4 days in a row now. Should it work right away or does it take a couple days

Hello, I was taking Xanax for awhile and it helped alil in the beginning. It is suppose to kick in 1 1/2 and it is good for attacks only I think. I finally talked to my doctor about it. I got prescribed something else that will help me longer. Have you heard about some breathing exercises you can do during a panic attack? I think it may help. I hope you get some relief soon. Xxx

You should feel better within about 15-30 minutes.

It should work quickly, as others have stated. Check that the druggist has given you the correct medicine and the correct dose.

Your xanex should start within an hour. I take 2 a day, once in the morning and once for sleeping. My dose is .5 it works great. If I'm having an anxiety attack it does take a little longer because my adrenaline is so high. I also breathe in for a count of 4, hold it for a count of 3 and exhale for a count of 7, concentrating on my breathing and heart rate. Believe it or not, it helps. Best wishes.

Xanax should be working quickly for you. Please talk to your doctor about a different benzo. Xanax works for me within about 30 minutes and if I am having a bad day-- i take it every 5 hours or so. I take a small dosage but it helps. Xanax is not like anti depressant that takes weeks to work, so please try a different benzo to see if you get some relief. I wish you luck.
