Hello all,
I’m new to the group. I’m just having a pretty rough, emotional day. I’m in a funk and just can’t get out of it.
Hey,
What's up? What is bothering you today?
Always here to help.
Hello,
I just have bad spells and today is one of them. I’m 25 without a job. I had to quit my last one due to anxiety n depression. I have a very hard time with self confidence and positive self talk. I’ve just been feeling embarrassed n worthless today...I can’t shake the feeling.
A lot of us here were just talking about this yesterday, you're definitely not alone! I quit both my jobs a month ago for pretty much the same reasons as you. Don't get down on yourself. Anxiety and depression are REAL, and COMPLETELY VALID reasons for needing a break from working. You're doing this for you, don't forget that! This is the first step to moving forward and improving. I don't regret quitting for a second. Being able to remove all that stress and fear that I was dealing with everyday and just focusing on myself and improving bit by bit without having to worry about anything else - it's the best thing I could have done.
Hi Dakota12,
Well, I am want to say I am proud of you for taking the step to taking better of yourself. Quitting is not something to be embarrassed about. And you are definitely not worthless. I, too, am getting so much anxiety from work. I plan on leaving too. Been looking for other jobs.
If anything, we can work together to give each other confidence in finding a new job and finding the career we enjoy. I am 24, so not I totally get it. But we have to keep moving forward, and I think coming to this forum and quitting is already taking a few steps towards getting better.
The feeling will be there for a bit. But I believe you got this. Don't hesitate to message me in the chat if you want to talk more. I am here to talk to.
Hi Dakota12
welcome.
When I am anxious about something, I focus on my breathing, check this video on youtube "Stop Anxiety | 4-7-8 Calm Breathing Guide".
Once I was waiting at job interview and started feeling insecure, nervous. I started doing this breathing exercice and manage to get control back.
When I am having a bad moment or day, I turn to my breathing, feel (almost see) the air going in from my nose to my lungs, and then out through my mouth... usually 3 to 5 minutes does the trick for me.
I think this works because I give my brain a task, something for it to focus on, so all others fears have to be set aside.
Hope this helps.
Hang in there.
