Dreams, goals, and hobbies! 🙃

Hey!

Just wondering what dreams, goals people have.

What hobbies, interests that take them away from the struggle of mental illness for a while?

•••••

• I am starting to learn the saxophone after not playing for over 10 years.

• I journal a lot, mostly just to get the intense thought out of my head. But I also want to write a book one day. Not sure if I’m think memoir, or general mental health book.

• I’d love to be an ambassador for some sort of mental health awareness, Maybe give talks at schools or something like that.

• I want to loose 20 kilos.

A lot of these things I find hard to due to lack of motivation. But I’m taking the positive of having something to work towards.

Those are great hobbies. I too started an instrument after 30 years of not playing. I like to paint. Crossword puzzles and coloring can get my mind off of the negative thoughts.

What instrument do you play ?

Also great choices I love all of these. Except I’m more Suduko instead of crosswords

Piano, and just a beginner at this point. I played other instruments in high school, but that was 30 years ago. So I won't claim those. LOL

Great hobbies! ☺ I enjoy quilting. I walk daily now. I want to start biking, saving for that

That’s really good and so positive 😊

Reading is a great outlet.

Reading is my passion! It transports me to new places, and when I'm reading, I'm not anxious or depressed. I also use reading to motivate me. For instance, take housework, which I really don't like. So I read for 30 minutes, then stop and get a household chore done, telling myself that I can get another 30 minutes of reading when I've accomplished that small goal. And as I do this throughout the day, I get a lot accomplished as far as chores go, and intermittent rewards of reading.

Wow that’s incredible

Such a great idea!

it works well for me!

Those are great dreams to have.

I've always wanted to write a book. I'd like to go back to school in the fall to obtain my masters in psychology. Maybe become a counselor for women. Who knows. Having depression, anxiety, & PTSD makes me want to learn everything I can about it & try to help others deal with it.

I love to go shopping & I love to swim. DistressedMermaid, get it? Swimming is something I've always loved to do. Maybe even open up my own clothing store someday, if I could get the funds to do it. That would be nice. I hope things are going well for you. <3

distressedmermaid I like that :)

would you design your clothes for your shop yourself?

I like to build scale models, cook dinner for the family or binge on Netflix to keep from obsessing about things.

in reply to Ffrank

Scale models are cool.

I bet your family also enjoys you cooking dinner for them.

What do you like to watch on Netflix? Shows, Movies, Documentaries? all of the above?

I watch all on Netflix. I particularly look for their originals. Some of them are very good. And then there are all the Star Trek series!

in reply to Ffrank
