I know what I'm about to say is going to sound weird. Ok here is goes. I have a tuxedo cat that hates everyone in the house but my 9 yr old daughter. Lately she has been close to me cuddling to me and cries when I leave her. I know animals sense us they know when something is going happen. So now I'm nervous and anxious. I'm scared that something is going to happen to me now. Is that weird or me just over reacting?
Why?: I know what I'm about to say is... - Anxiety and Depre...
Why?
You are just over reacting. Cats are very strange creatures and who knows what goes through their minds. I have a cat and some of the time he seems to hate me and others he likes me and wants loads of cuddles etc.
They march to their own tune and it's nothing to do with us. x
I don’t want to be THAT person, but I used to work as a veterinary technician, and usually personality changes in an animal can indicate something might be wrong w your beloved pet. It could be a good idea to take her in just to make sure. Is she still eating and drinking and using her litter box normally? Any vomiting, coughing, sneezing, or diarrhea? If so, let your vet know and they can probably get her back on track (though I’d imagine it’s kinda nice to be cuddled for once). Sending my well-wishes!
She has been gagging alot. But she still eats and does everything else as usual. Thank you
The gagging might be caused by hairballs.
But she also has been throwing up and drinking alot of water. I'm just a paranoid soul. Anything new happens my mind goes into over drive.
Is she throwing up her food, bile, or hairballs?
I am a dog person because cats are weird. Dogs are mellow.
I think the cat is just picking up on your feelings & trying to comfort you!!! Love & Hugs! XXX
My poor kitty. I hope that's what it is
I think so...they are very smart & can pick up on your feelings..think about how they are in some nursing homes!! Try to be positive about it & enjoy it!!! Love & Hugs!!! XXX
I will do my best to stay positive. My poor kitty if she does feel my anxiety and pains that sucks. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Oh how I understand where you are coming from. Your kitty may just be trying to soothe you! Peace, love & Joy...just for you!!! Love ya!!! XXX
Thank you so much. It's all I want it's all we all want is peace love and joy.
Stay strong...I believe in you!!! XXX
My biggest concern is that your daughter seems to be having some serious separation anxieties. Given she cries whenever the two of you need to go separate ways for a period of time, that sets off some red flags. This is no more than a hunch, but maybe could be some level intuition, so I'd rather say something and be wrong, than say nothing and be right.
Is there ANY possibility that at some time in the last 6 or 7 years someone she was left with abuse her in ANY way behind your back? I had bad separation anxiety as a kid, and I KNOW why I did. I've known a lot of people through the years, and I've had to heal a lot in myself with no professional help afforded me EVER, so for real, Espinoza, not to cause you undue alarm, but you may want to take a really close inventory of people who have babysat her or that she has visited without you and see if anything matches up.
I really and truly hope I'm completely off base, but I've talked to hundreds and hundreds of people through the years, and am inclined to say that this type of separation anxiety does not typically come from no-where.
Where the idea of your cat's behaviors are concerned, animals DO know what love is, and I think maybe your cat's upset MAY have an awful lot more to do with your daughter than you. Again, it's speculative, but educated too.

Oh, wait, the tuxedo cat is clinging to you and crying whenever you leave? I just re-read your 1st post and think I may have sim-interpreted thinking your daughter was suffering separation anxiety, not your cat. How embarrassing.
If that's the case, then yeah, the same reactions apply to animals that apply to humans. If someone hurt that cat, the yes, the same reactions are certainly expected.
