Hey all! In addition to it being the 4th of July holiday here in America, another iconic event happened on this day in 1939. Lou Gehrig, future Hall of Fame First Baseman for the New York Yankees, gave his "Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth" speech. Two month previously, Gehrig had been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, now commonly referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease". He did not want anyone to pity him or feel sorry for him and he vowed to fight the disease to the end. Let us take a moment to reflect on the good that we have in our lives and to take courage from Lou Gehrig. If he could stay positive and fight ALS, then we can stay positive and fight depression and anxiety.
Stay safe and be happy today!
