Work anxiety

I have been feeling really unmotivated and finding excuses to not go to work, I am currently looking for a new job but the stress of waiting to hear back from jobs has been a lot on me. Any ideas how to take these last few weeks at work be more joyful

Hi morant2!

For me, I just had to come to accept the fact that I had to keep working my job until I found another one. You just have to make the best of your situation, doing your best to remain positive. I’ve been looking for a new job since the beginning of March and today finally got a new one with benefits. I found while searching, that at least half the places I applied to never contacted me in any way. It’s very frustrating and really hard to not let it get to you. Wishing you the best!

Tell yourself this is only temporary and you’ll get through this. Try to focus on the things you had liked at your current job until the right one comes along. Good luck.

I’m in the same spot and on top of it all I have extreme anxiety about quitting, I don’t know when I should, how to say it, what excuse to give, and how to even bring that up without feeling like I’m dropping a bomb on everyone. My job is not great and is making me terribly depressed so I need to figure something out before it destroys me completely... hang in there and I will try to too!!!

I have had many jobs, so many that I’m not ready to reveal the number. I got a high from applying for jobs and I perfected my resume, had a portfolio and perfected the interview. And the quitting. Megc, it is always a bomb to the employer and there is no way around it. Depending how professional your company is, type a letter and you can google what to say. Make an appointment with your boss on a Monday and the end date should be two weeks from then on a Friday. Tell him/her that you are putting in your two weeks notice because it is time for me to move on. Keep it simple. Good luck. 🌻🌻🌻🌻

At one time I thought I could help people with resumes, interviews etc. I’m disabled now and I have quit many jobs, been laid off or been fired. I don’t know if the hiring process has changed since I’ve been out of the market. Just a couple tips: contact employment agencies or temp agencies. I got two jobs as a temp and they liked me and hired me full time. Research the company before applying so if you write a cover letter, you can know about the company and that shows you’ve done your homework. Also, should you get an interview depending whether professional or not. You are being interviewed from the moment you step out of the car. If the job is in a tall building or has windows in the front assume they are watching. So being on your cellphone etc, I wouldn’t do it.

And make small talk with the receptionist unless that person is busy. I’ve heard the HR person will ask the receptionist later, how did the person interact with them? Keep a smile on your face but not too much smiling. I have an expressive face so I slap on a happy face.

Also during the interview always respond to their questions and never say I don’t know. Sounds like a lot but there is more to it.

I lost a job because they asked what part I didn’t like about my last job. I said filing. I was honest and they assumed that since I wouldn’t do that, what else wouldn’t I do. That was through an employment agency and I found that out later. I have applied for numerous jobs-probably over 100.

Hi. It's 5 months later, i've just seen your post. I'm wondering how you're doing now? Are you in a better position and not feeling as much anxiety, or do you still feel as bad as before?

I've just joined this group, i hope it can offer me some comfort and support for when i post on here.
